A Florida high school football player, Chance Gainer, 18, collapsed and died during a game at Liberty County High School. Gainer, a wide receiver and defensive back for Port St. Joe High School, collapsed while running toward a play and could not be revived despite paramedics' efforts. The honors student, known for his athletic talent and warm personality, had a 4.0 GPA and was recently considering attending Vanderbilt University.

Florida football is in mourning after a high school player collapsed and died during a game in Port St Joe on Friday night. Chance Gainer, 18, was rushed to the hospital after his sudden collapse but the senior was later pronounced dead. Coaches reportedly rushed to the wide receiver's side on the field but they were unable to save his life.
