Jessica Brizeida López Arocha (born January 22, 1986) is a Venezuelan artistic gymnast who competes for Venezuela's national team.
She appeared in the 2008, the 2012, and the 2016 Summer Olympics, where she qualified to the uneven bars final, bringing the first Venezuelan gymnast to qualify for an individual apparatus final where she finished sixth.
She also placed seventh in the all-around final, her country's highest all-around finish ever.
Career
Lopez competed for the University of Denver in NCAA gymnastics.
She qualified to compete in Beijing as an individual.
She represented at the 2009 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in 2009.
She captured the bronze medal at the American Cup in March 2010. At the end of March, she captured the gold medal in the all around, uneven bars, and floor exercises at the South American Games. She has earned medals in Moscow, Porto, and Ghent, as well as the Glasgow World Cup. She qualified for two silver medals (uneven bars and balance beam) and one bronze medal (all around) in September. She appeared in the 2010 World Championships, qualifying for the all-around finals and finishing in the tenth place, the best showing for a Venezuelan gymnast ever.
Lopez qualified to compete as an individual at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She came in 18th overall. In the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games, she carried the Venezuelan flag.
She did not qualify to any individual event finals at the 2014 World Championships, but she came in ninth place in the all around, her highest world results finish. She appeared in the Central American and Caribbean Games after placing first all around, beam, and bars. She appeared in the Stuttgart World Cup a few weeks later and claimed silver in the all around.
She placed 4th in the 2015 American Cup and won the FIG World Cup series, earning her her the grand prize.
She qualified for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where she placed seventh in the all around and sixth on uneven bars.
