Gerald LeRoy Lacy (born March 27, 1936) is an American soap opera actor best known for his portrayals of Tony Peterson, Reverend Trask, Mr. Trask, Mr. Trask, and Lamar Trask on the TV series Dark Shadows.
He has appeared on The Secret Storm, As the World Turns (as Simon Gilbey), Love of Life (as Rick Latimer), and The Young and the Restless (as Jonas).
Personal Life
Julia Duffy, a co-star of Dark Shadows and Love of Life, married Lacy in 1984. Kerry, the couple's first child, was born in 1986. Duffy gave birth to their second child, Daniel, in August 1989. Daniel died by suicide in April 2019.
Life and career
Lacy was born in Sioux City, Iowa. In both the Broadway show and film version of Woody Allen's Play It Again, Sam, he played Humphrey Bogart. Lacy appeared in the films House of Shadows, The Money, and Blood Bath during the 1970s. The Big G and Imps*, as well as the TV films Pleasure Cove, Fighting Back, and Chiller are among his film roles. In the role of Rev. Lacy, she was given the opportunity to serve as a Receptionist. Trask was in the second film based on Dark Shadows, Night of Dark Shadows, but At the time, he was under As the World Turns, and his commitment was too arduous for him to shoot the film.
Since 1984, he has been married to actress Julia Duffy. The pair first met when they were both on the CBS soap opera Love of Life. In the 1990s, he appeared on Designing Women as her character's (Allison Sugarbaker) ex-fiancé, Barry, who threw her at the altar; and in 2005, he appeared as Duffy's (Alice Hayfer) husband. Newhart also wrote one of Duffy's other comedy series, Newhart.
Lacy appeared on CBS summer replacement series Comedy Tonight and later a similar show, 20th Century Follies, in 1970. He has appeared on a number of primetime television shows, including McCloud, Eight is Enough, Knots Landing, Hardball, and Saved by the Bell.
He played Gregory Trask in the Dark Shadow audio dramas The Wicked and the Dead (2009) and Kingdom of the Dead (2010).
Lacy sat down for an exclusive interview with freelance writer Rod Labbe (and a fan of Dark Shadows) in mid-2010. It was titled "Saints and Sinners" in Fangoria magazine's September 2010 issue. Labbe and Lacy collaborated on a longer interview for Scary Monsters Magazine. The issue, #90, was released in December 2013, and the talk is titled "Right for the Part." Also in 2013, Lacy reunited with his Dark Shadow costars Lara Parker and Kathryn Leigh Scott in the film Doctor Mabuse, which was written and directed by Ansel Faraj. Lacy appeared in Doctor Mabuse: Etiopomar, reprising his role in 2014.
