KATHRYN BATTE: Tim Steidten has spent the last few months glued to his mobile phone. West Ham's technical director and the man responsible for recruitment had told fans the club would have a 'busy summer' - and the transfer chief has lived up to that promise. The club's expenditure has surpassed £120million, with the likes of Max Kilman, Niclas Fullkrug and Crysencio Summerville having all completed moves to the London Stadium. At the weekend, Jean-Clair Todibo became their seventh summer signing, sealing a season-long loan move from Nice. West Ham have an option to buy the former Barcelona defender for £35m. Aaron Wan-Bissaka became the latest addition on Tuesday, completing a £15m move from Manchester United. That they have been able to recruit Wolves' club captain, a striker who was part of the Borussia Dortmund side that reached last season's Champions League final, the Championship player of the year, and a player who was previously wanted by Manchester United, despite not having European football, shows West Ham mean business.

United are expected to sign two centre backs this summer with Jean-Clair Todibo, of Nice, and Fulham ’s Tosin Adarabioyo two potential targets on the right side of defence. Todibo would cost around £40m while Adarabioyo is available on a free transfer and attracting interest from Newcastle. United’s budget this summer is little more than £35m in cash, but new co-owners Ineos expect to raise substantially more by selling off some of their stars and are also prepared to offer player swaps.
Manchester United's Benjamin Pavard is out. The Red Devils are looking for Harry Maguire replacement, although they do have Jean-Clair Todobo of Nice and Bayer Leverkusen's Edmond Tapsoba on the shortlist

Manchester United has knocked out Bayern Munich's £30 million-rated France defender Benjamin Pavard as they attempt to replace Harry Maguire. Pavard is keen on the move, though United also spoke to Jean-Clair Todibo of Nice and Bayer Leverkusen's Edmond Tapsoba. West Ham have agreed to a £30 million contract for Maguire with Man Utd, but personal terms have yet to be agreed on by the player and the club. United have selected Pavard as the perfect replacement for their former skipper, who has one year on his deal with the Allianz Arena and does not intend to sign a new one. Following the signing of Napoli's Kim Min-jae in July, Pavard faces stiff competition for a starting position in Thomas Tuchel's side.
