Ms Boht's family died after battled dementia and living at Denville Hall, London's most prestigious actors' retirement home. Carl Davis (inset), the conductor and composer behind shows including the BBC's 1995 production of Pride and Prejudice, died in early August at the age of 86. Ms Boht's family sent a note: "It's with great sadness that we must reveal that Jean Boht died on Tuesday, September 12.' Jean had been fighting vascular dementia and Alzheimer's disease with the same indefatigable spirit for which she was both beloved and feared. She was a resident of Denville Hall, the home for members of the theater group.' She had a long and varied career in film and television, but it was her role on Bread (right), which was created by Carla Lane, for which she was most well known. The show ran from 1986 to 1991, and Boht was named by more than 20 million viewers as the best TV comedy actress in the UK.
