Virtual Insanity! Rare Aston Martin once owned by Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay to go under the hammer for £400,000

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 10, 2024
An extremely rare Aston Martin V8 Vantage X-pack (right) - one of only 95 ever built - is expected to fetch up to £400,000 when it goes under the hammer this month. The V8 Vantage famously featured in the 1987 James Bond film The Living Daylights where it escaped across a frozen lake inside a wooden hut. And while Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay's (left) 1990 Vantage lacks the deployable skis, missiles and a jet engine, it does have a 5.3-litre V8 engine, producing 432 horsepower, black leather interior (inset) and walnut trim, air conditioning and electric windows. It also has 37,594 miles on the clock. The car was part of the Cosmic Girl singer's fleet of more than 100 luxury vehicles including Ferraris, Aston Martins, Mercedes and Porsches.

Rare Ferrari once owned by Jamiroquai's Jay Kay goes up for sale for just £650k with just 3,000miles on the clock - but buyers are warned it would be Virtual Insanity to try driving it in the rain

Jay Kay (pictured left), whose disco-inspired band Jamiroquai had a number of chart topping hits in 1990s and 2000s, bought his 599 GTO (pictured right) a few years after its original owner. But - in the words of one of the popstar's singles - he clearly only loved the car with a little L as there is only a measly 2,800 miles on the mileometer 13 years after the car left the showroom. Although the lack of mileage is no great surprise given that Ferrari mechanics supposedly told Jeremy Clarkson - who reviewed the car for Top Gear back in 2011 -  that it's impossible to drive in rainy conditions.

Classic Lamborghini once owned by Jamiroquai's Jay Kay who took Richard Hammond for a spin in the supercar on 2004 episode of Top Gear is tipped to sell for £2.75million

The red 1972 Miura P400 SV was bought by pop star Kay at the height of his chart fame and formed part of his vast collection of vintage motors. The rare Lamborghini - dubbed the first supercar - was one of just 150 models made, with a V12 engine allowing it to go from 0-60mph in just five seconds and reach a top speed of 172mph. Kay, 54, showed the vehicle off in a 2004 episode of BBC motoring show Top Gear - driving it with Hammond in the passenger seat. The pop star was filmed saying as he drove: 'This car was so ahead of its time - it's a wonderful, wonderful thing.'

Jamiroquai has begun recording their first album in seven years, just weeks after the band's former bassist Derek McIntyre was killed in a car crash. It will be the band's ninth studio album and first new music since Automaton's 2017 debut, and the band's ninth top ten LP.

As he joins leggy wife Maria on a romantic trip to Venice, Jamiroquai's Jay Kay, 53, is every inch the tourist

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 28, 2023
This week, Jay Kay of Jamiroquai was spotted exploring Venice's sights with wife Maria on a romantic getaway. As the couple strolled through the historic streets before enjoying a ride along the canal, the singer, 53, was busy photographing the scene with his camera. During the outing, Jay cut a casual figure in a T-shirt and shorts, and he might have been seen puffing on a cheeky cigarette.

In the Love Foolosophy video, Jay Kay will sell a rare Bentley

The Jamiroquai frontman, a well-known petrolhead, is leaving the country for his extraordinary 1958 Bentley Drophead Coupé, which appeared in the Love Foolosophy music video in 2002. Jay Kay has had the car in his garage of exotic cars for 22 years, having purchased it just months before shooting the video. Interested parties are encouraged to make an enquiry direct from the singer's motor collection's private sale direct, and although it's listed as 'price upon request,' a bid over £1 million is likely to be needed to guarantee the keys to the drop-top Bentley.

After a flashing light-up hat was missing on a train from King's Cross, Jamiroquai's Jay Kay offers a reward

www.dailymail.co.uk, June 8, 2023
After an automated hat for their festival run was left on a train, the band Jamiroquai has been given a reward. Lead singer Jay Kay is a huge fan of hats and he's planning to wear the headgear for forthcoming dates, including the Czech Republic, Italy, and Lancashire, as well as three more dates between July and September. However, the flashing light-up hat was "lost in transit" on a train between London Kings Cross and Luton, Beds, on Tuesday (June 6).
