Early life
Because his mother had trouble raising him, Hieron went to live with John and Theo Hieronymous as a child. When he was eight years old, the couple officially adopted him.

High School and national Junior College champion at Nassau (N.Y.), where he earned an associate degree, attended Hofstra University.
