The Secret Service's director Kimberly Cheatle has been blasted for her 'stupidity' and 'BS excuse' that the snipers were not present on the roof used by would-be assassin Thomas Crooks because it was 'too sloped'. Speaking to ABC News on Tuesday, Cheatle claimed that agents were not positioned on top of the sloped building, deeming it too dangerous - despite images from the scene showing Secret Service snipers set up on a sloped roof behind where Trump was delivering his speech. Instead of placing her snipers on the roof of the American Glass Research Building in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Crooks fired from, she made the decision to secure the building from the inside. 'That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point,' she claimed. 'And so, you know, there's a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn't want to put somebody up on a sloped roof.

The photo was taken by law enforcement agents seconds after the 20-year-old was shot dead by Secret Service agents following his assassination attempt on the former president at his Pennsylvania campaign rally on Saturday.
Channel 11′s Nicole Ford, who obtained the exclusive photo, revealed that law enforcement agents saw Crooks acting suspiciously outside Butler's single-story AGR International building from which he shot the ex-President, more than an hour before he pulled the trigger at 6.11pm.
Now Secret Service director Kimberley Cheatle faces fresh questions after local law enforcement officials directly contradicted her claim that a Beaver County sniper team stationed in the very building from which Trump was shot. It emerged on Tuesday that the killer penetrated the security area of the rally a full three hours before carrying out his attack, after driving the 50 miles north from his home in Bethel Park on the southern outskirts of Pittsburgh.

The would-be assassin told colleagues at the Bethel Park Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center that he would see them on Sunday.
But a Secret Service agent at the Butler rally ensured that he would be the last person that Crooks saw as he locked eyes with the killer before shooting him dead. Agents found him in their sights and one pulled the trigger seconds after the 20-year-old shot dead Pennsylvania fire chief Corey Comperatore, critically injured two others and hitting Trump in the right ear after scaling a building 147 yards away. 'They were looking at him while he was looking at them,' a senior federal law enforcement official told CNN .
