The Archbishop of Canterbury has outlined how his son was disciplined for first refusing to honor his mother on her deathbed when she tried to apologise for'messing up his life.' Justin Welby has spoken out today about the last few moments he shared with his mother Jane Williams before she died in June last year. His mother, according to the Archbishop, was a 'volent and distraught' woman who attempted to apologise for his 'voltile' upbringing in the last few days of her life. She also tried to acknowledge the "difficult times we'd had over the years," which included not telling her son who his real father was until he found her son that he wasn't until he found it in 2016 via a DNA test. Although standing by her bedside, Mr Welby says he initially dismissed Jane's words because he "didn't feel the same way," prompting his son Pete to take him outside and clearly explain what she was trying to do. The Archbishop of Canterbury's leader shared how Pete had disciplined him for his "no pastoral skills" and asked "which idiot made him the Archbishop of Canterbury?" Following the nascent words from his newly ordained son, Mr Welby realized he'was in the wrong' and returned to his mother's bedside to say, 'I'm sorry.'

DEN CONFIDENTIAL: I can reveal that the Archbishop has been told that he has become a multi-millionaire as his mother left him a whopping £2.4 million. The windfall, which has risen to 28 times more than his annual salary of £85,000 as the Church of England's leader and president of the worldwide Anglican Communion. A friend tells me, 'It's a life-changing sum.' Williams, who died in July at the age of 93, left her entire estate to the Archbishop, according to recently published probate papers. He is 68 years old tomorrow, which is a coincidence. Top: Gavin Welby and his partner Jane Welby with Justin Welby at his christening in 1956. Anthony Montague Browne at the bottom of the page. I've been doing everything over the years, from a politician to a soldier on Her Majesty's Pleasure, but on my 82nd outing tomorrow, I'll be a prison chaplain and hard at work. I am now a minister, not of the crown but of the cloth, and was ordained as a priest in 2019. It's a handbrake change from my turbulent tenure in the Commons but it's much more rewarding. In fact, I can confidently say that I have never been happier, particularly at this difficult time of year. My Christmas Day will begin early tomorrow, with me arriving at HMP Pentonville, the 185-year-old North London jail where I served for more than five years as a chaplain.
