Former Radio 4 Woman's Hour host Jane Garvey has hit out at the station saying it 'takes itself too seriously' and that it is 'smug'. The presenter, 59, who spent three years on the flagship show, revealed she preferred working at Radio 5 Live because it was more entertaining. Jane broadcast her final Woman's Hour in 2020 and in 2022 she and Fi Glover left the BBC for Times Radio, where they present a live afternoon show four days a week as well as their own podcast. Jane is pictured left in 2019, and right while presenting Woman's Hour.

JAN MOIR: Why is the BBC ashamed of its radio golden oldies, however loved they are?

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 19, 2023
JAN MOIR: Every morning, nine million of us tune in, soothed by his lowering presence and his peaty voice, with a hint of malt whisky bubbling over the smooth pebbles of pop. And now this! We're losing Ken, we're losing PopMaster, as well as the fluttering ribbon of contestants who have competed for many years. And no, not just for the chance to win a smart speaker or a CD wallet, but also for the opportunity to chat with Ken himself.

Jane Garvey says BBC gave her 'overnight' £40k pay rise after she complained of gender pay gap

Jane Garvey, 58, (pictured left, while right, with Times Radio co-host Fi Glover) hosted Woman's Hour from 2007 to 2020. After a list of BBC presenters' salaries was revealed, she expressed her dissatisfaction on air about the discretion between male and female actors' earnings. "All of a sudden, I was worth 40 grand a year more, and I got a letter saying, 'We've decided to give you a pay update,'" she wrote to the White Wine Question Time podcast. I thought, ''A pay revision? OK,' he says.' Her salary soared to £121,000, compared to top-earner Chris Evans, who took home £2.2 million in the same year for his Radio 2 show. Just a third of the company's top 96 earners were women, with the top seven all men in the 2017 list.

Jane Garvey and Fi Glover are latest BBC stars to leave in talent 'brain drain'

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 25, 2022
Fi Glover (left) and Jane Garvey (right), the hosts of 'Fortunately', have been the most recent big name actors to leave the BBC in a 'brain drain' of talent, as they prepare to start afresh on Times Radio (inset). Since 2017, the pair have produced nearly 250 episodes of Fortunately, which describes itself as "a candid look behind the scenes with broadcasters as they'share stories they certainly shouldn't'. Claudia Winkleman, Miriam Margolyes, and Jeremy Vine have all appeared on the popular podcast, which has been downloaded 23 million times. Glover, 53, and Garvey, 58, will co-present a podcast and afternoon show on Times Radio, starting on October 10. The podcast hosts are the latest in a long line of broadcasters to leave the BBC over the past year, causing skepticism of a mass exodus of talent from the organisation.

It's likely that it would be coming home. The Lionesses have made it all the way to the Euro 2022 final at Wembley after winning every single game in the Euros so far. During Beth Mead's match against Sweden on Tuesday, four superb goals were scored, including Alessia Russo, Alessia Russo, and Fran Kirby. It's certainly could be the game football fans have been waiting for. The four-nil victory ignited mass excitement among viewers and in the crowd, to the point that one little girl's adorable celebration was caught on camera by the BBC.
