From January 2025, the ten-year World Wrestling Entertainment deal will be available on Netflix. It will be seen in the United Kingdom, as well as in the United States, Canada, and Latin America. In addition, the agreement gives Netflix the ability to stream all WWE shows outside of the United States, including Smackdown and Wrestlemania.

Left, Netflix's film chief Scott Stuber is leaving the streamer in the middle of March to start a new production company, and it appears that with Netflix's blessing comes from them. Stuber has found funding for his new venture, which will concentrate on producing TV shows and movies, some of which will be available on Netflix. Stuber's departure from the company has been speculated for some time, with the well-known film executive speaking to prospective investors about a solo venture. During his time with Netflix, he oversaw the creation of famous titles such as "glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery," bottom right, "All Quiet on the Western Front" and "Red Notice" top right.

Despite new woke laws, the British Film Academy and Television Awards short list nominations have revealed a decrease in diversity in several of the main categories. In the Best Film category, only one female filmmaker has been nominated, which is the lowest percentage since the guidelines were introduced in 2020. When no women were nominated as the best director for the seventh year in a row, the academy made changes to improve the awards' diversity, and all 20 finalists in the lead and supporting performer categories were white.

The Idol, the weeknd's tense upcoming film, is expected to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival for a high-profile premiere. According to IndieWire, the first two or three episodes of the HBO series will be shown at the legendary French festival outside of competition. The news comes following the publication of a research in Rolling Stone earlier this month in which insiders explained how the show had been completely rewritten and reshot with new scenes that they characterized as "sexual torture porn."

Patty Jenkins, a Wonder Woman producer, has slammed the Academy Awards for lacking female nominees for Best Director. In 2021, two women were nominated in the category, but this year, no one has been nominated for the award this year. In the 95-year history of the Oscars, only seven women have been nominated - Helena for The Piano (1976), Jane Campion for The Hurt Locker (1993), Sophie Coppola for Lost in Translation (2006), Margaret Crawford for The Lost Children (2017), Best Director Kathryn Bigelow for The Hurt Locker (2017), and Promising Young Woman (2020) are the most recent winners Jane Campion for The Power of the Dog (2021). Though the most recent group of contenders seemed to be progressing, several women were dissatisfied when women were barred from the competition, including Gina Prince-Bythewood, Woman Talking (Sarah Polley), Charlotte Wells (Maria Schrader), and Many of whom were up for other Oscars.

The Academy has a long way to go. The 2023 Oscar nominations, which were revealed on Jan. 24, revealed that the Academy failed to nominate a single woman for best director, which was one of the show's biggest snubs to date. Despite talented female filmmakers like Charlotte Wells ("Aftersun"), Sarah Polley ("Women Talking"), and Gina Prince-Bythewood ("The Woman King") wishing to receive their deserved recognition, all five nominations ended up going to male directors. Steven Spielberg ("The Fabelmen"), Todd Field ("Tár"), Martin McDonagh ("The Banshees of Inisherin"), Ruben stlund ("Triangle of Sadness"), and Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert ("Everything Everywhere At Once") are among the official list of nominees for best director.

Hilary Linstead, a film producer, casting director, and agent, has died at the age of 83. Linstead died peacefully in her home on August 6 after contracting a form of leukemia. She was regarded as a 'force of nature' by her family and friends. Presumably, we'll all know the answers soon. We might even find out if The Power of the Dog nabs Best Picture, as it has already cleaned up at the BAFTAs, Critics' Choice Awards, and Golden Globes. We'll also find out if Beyoncé or Billie Eilish earns their first Oscar win. That's a lot to look forward to.

Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi epic Dune, anchored by Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, received 10, while Steven Spielberg's sweeping West Side Story update and Kenneth Branagh's black-and-white reflection on his Irish childhood Belfast each earned 7 points.

To say that the Golden Globe Awards this year are a little different this year would be an understatement. The show had traditionally started with a celebrity-filled ceremony from the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, which was broadcast live on NBC. However, after a string of scandals dogged the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, including an internal lack of diversity and a variety of unethical business practices, NBC dropped the 2022 telecast, leaving the Globes without a television home. The winners will be announced online by the Golden Globes account on Thursday when the ceremony takes place tonight (January 9).
