For those parents who have recently waved their children off for a year in the midst of Australia's Work & Travel program, the best advice is to give The Royal Hotel a strategic shakedown. My own daughter participated in the program for three months on a 50,000-acre sheep farm in New South Wales as part of a year Down Under, and even though she has long been home and remembers the love of the big killer magpies, I still felt a dry-mouthed personal investment in this enthralling film.
