Dallas Stars goalie Jake Oettinger's biggest save of the night came while his stick was laying on the ice in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals against the Edmonton Oilers. With the game tied at 2-2 late in the first period, Oettinger dropped his stick after a play in front of the net and lost sight of it as Edmonton remained on the attack. But a shot from Oilers star Connor McDavid that seemed destined for the goal - or at least the post - hit the dropped stick and deflected away from the mouth of the net.

Many hockey fans were not expecting a second all-Sun Belt Stanley Cup Final in NHL history. Boston was the best regular season squad in the league's history going into the playoffs. They were knocked out by the worst team that made it in. Canada wished that they would win their first Stanley Cup since 1993. Rather, the Jets were quickly dismissed and the Maple Leafs and Oilers' star power was snuffed out.

Consider the Toronto Maple Leafs as the most complete NHL elite to be completely confounded by the eighth-seeded Florida Panthers. The Panthers defeated the Leafs 3-2 in Toronto on Thursday, giving them a 2-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals following their first-round upset of the top-seeded Boston Bruins. Sheldon Keefe, the Leafs' head coach, was particularly worried about the Panthers' second-period results, in which the Panthers scored two unanswered goals. 'Disappointing' Keefe said, 'Baffling.' We didn't make those mistakes one time in the last series [first round against Tampa].'
