When Sheffield council reported that the grave had been erected without planning permission, a controversy between the council and the traveller family began in March 2022. The council is considering 'next steps' over the headstone, but the widow of the bare-knuckle boxer has warned of 'bad riots' if the boxer is gone, as well as the use of a security guard.
