van Herpen started her fashion label in 2007.

Career
Iris van Herpen graduated from the Artez University of the Arts in Arnhem in 2006 and worked at Alexander McQueen in London and Claudy Jongstra in Amsterdam before launching her own brand in 2007. At the 2007 Amsterdam Fashion Week, the Dutch designer unveiled her first Couture collection, 'Chemical Crows.'
Van Herpen was one of the first designers to pioneer 3D-printing as a clothing construction method.
Lady Gaga has wore Iris van Herpen's designs on several occasions since 2009. Lady Gaga wore a custom shiny black Couture dress for the unveiling of her perfume Fame in 2012. The bottle's shape inspired the dress, which Van Herpen made from laser-cut strips of black acrylic. Silicones, iron filings, and resin have also been used by Van Herpen.
