June 24, 2023
The league's Board of Governors has voted to ban all 'extraty jerseys' worn before games during the 2023-24 season. 'I suggested that clubs not to change their jerseys in warmups because it would be a distraction and taking away from the fact that all of our clubs, in some form or another, host nights in honor of various organisations or causes, and we'd prefer that these organizations receive the proper attention that they so richly deserve rather than being a distraction,' Bettman said. Rainbow-colored jerseys and stick tape were traditionally associated with Pride night themes.

According to reports, Lyubushkin will not participate in the pregame warm-up game against Montreal but is also expected to play. The majority of Buffalo players will be sporting Pride-themed jerseys and rainbow-colored tape on their sticks.
