Another major Australian music festival has been cancelled in a devastating year for the already struggling entertainment industry. Birdsville Big Red Bash 2025 will not be going ahead next year, with event organisers saying the festival will be put on pause until 2026. The event, dubbed the most remote music festival in the world, is staged at the Big Red Dune 35km west of Birdsville in the Simpson Desert and has been operating continuously since 2013 before Covid lockdowns.

Jimmy Barnes has provided his fans with a shock health update, one month after being forced to cancel his Cold Chisel reunion tour following open heart surgery. The Aussie rock legend, 68, shared a video to Instagram on Friday in which he revealed he was unable to perform at the Stranded in the Maldives festival, due to receiving constant medical treatment. 'My family are all en route to the Maldives as we speak, and you are going to have Ian Moss and Jon Stevens there to sing,' Jimmy began.
