The 20-foot-long mysterious vessel, which is believed to date back to the 1800s, was discovered intact near the Bridge of Lions in St. Augustine. It was buried beneath eight to ten feet of sandstone and discovered with antiques, including a leather boot, coins from 1869, and a lantern. Archeologists are now trying to stabilize the vessel, but only have a short time to remove it before the drying wood begins decaying. While the Florida Department of Transportation collaborated with archeology company SEARCH to work on the shipwreck, construction was halted for a short time.
