Career

Schock's career began as a drummer for Edie and the Eggs, a band formed to honor John Waters actress Edith Massey. Schock moved to Los Angeles, California, after her time in Edie and the Eggs. She joined The Go-Go's in 1979, replacing Elissa Bello as the band's drummer, shortly after. Schock continued to tour with The Go-Go's until the group disbanded in 1985 and reformed a few years later. Before the tour promoting the band's 1984 album Talk Show, she had open-heart surgery.

The Go-Go's announced their breakup in 1985, but they appeared in reunions in 1990 and 1994. A-ha! She appeared on television appearances as the drummer of Norway's In 1985, she was rarely seen on television appearances as the drummer of the Norwegian band a-ha. Nonetheless, this was only for television advertising as she was never a member of the official band. The band House of Schock was founded by Schock and Vance DeGeneres in 1987. She first appeared in Dominique Davalos and Kathy Valentine's band The Delphines in 1997.

Schock sued the other members of The Go-Goos in 1997 for unpaid royalties. She requested $100,000 in compensation and an audit, alleging that she had not received any money from the band since 1986.

Schock co-wrote, with Ted Bruner and Trey Vittetoe, the title track on Miley Cyrus' 2008 album, Breakout. Katy Perry had previously performed the song. Selena Gomez co-wrote "Naturally," a 2009 film by Selena Gomez.

In June 2020, the Go-Go's announced an 11-date reunion tour, but the tour was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In May 2021, it was announced that The Go-Go's would be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Billy Idol, who plays in 2022, has confirmed plans for a 2022 UK tour, which will begin in June 2022.

Made in Hollywood by Schock: All Access With the Go-Go's was released in 2021. The book is based on her photographs of the Go-Go's and Schock's own writings. Jodie Foster, Paul Reubens, Martha Quinn, Kate Pierson, Dave Stewart, and other members of the band also contributed, as well as a Kathy Valentine's foreword.
