Gerardo Nez Daz (born 29 June 1961) is a Spanish guitarist and composer.
His roots are in flamenco, but he has performed fusion and jazz.
Career
In 1961, Nez de la Frontera (province of Cádiz) was born in Jerez de la Frontera (province of Ceca). Rafael [d]el guila, his first tutor. He was accompanied by T. Gregoro el Borrico, Terremoto de Jerez, La Paquera, and Mario Maya among others at the age of fourteen. He has performed as a concert guitarist and was known as a singer and a collaborator of Turronero, Pansea, Indio Gitano. He has appeared in numerous theater performances, the most notable being Mario Maya's 'Ay Jondo,'s triple roles as composer, concert guitarist, and accompanist. Yerma de la Yerma de Lorca, and Lorca's Yerma. He has appeared at numerous music festivals around the world. Since being a solo artist, Gerardo Nuez has received numerous accolades, and he is regarded as one of the best prepared guitarists in the country. He has appeared on several flamenco stages, assemblies, and festivals both nationally and internationally: Paris, New York, Havana, Munich. He has also performed with a guitar quartet, with whom he has travelled around the world, and has performed with international renown guitarists Erico Raba, Alex de Grassi, and Briam Gare. In addition, he has collaborated with bassist Eberhard Weber and accordionist Richard Galliano.
His music as a composer is both intricate and rich, allowing him to demonstrate his playing ability. Carmen Cortés, one of his best artistic collaborators, has a large number of pieces. He also made a version of El Amor Brujo for four guitars, and he has attempted to fuse with other genres of music, particularly jazz, but never leave out flamenco as the source.
