After accusing them of faking food poisoning to force them to pay for lobster dinner, Silver Pearl's Chinese restaurant is offering a groveling apology to influencers

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 28, 2024
On December 25, 2020, Jennifer Do and her two children Belinda and Julie Naughten dined at Cabramatta's upmarket Silver Pearl restaurant in Sydney's west. The three social media influencers, who were joined by Ms. Do's partner, ordered a live lobster to be served sashimi-style as well as a bottle of red wine. However, after the company complained that the lobster was off and that only had money for the wine, the restaurant subsequently accused them of being 'completely classless,' implying that they invented food poisoning to worms rather than paying the large bill. After discovering their names on social media, a photograph of the women at their table was shared on the restaurant's social media pages three days later.

Chaser star Julian Morrow suffers devastating High Court blow after suing a colleague who described him as Lord Voldemort: 'Ridiculous farce and massive own goal'

Julian Morrow has been left with a more than $2.5 million fine after his defamation suit against fellow television director Nick Murray sorely backfired. The Checkout (right), a consumer affairs program that aired on ABC for six seasons, was produced by Morrow and Murray. Murray decided to sell Morrow's production company for $50 before finding that his onetime partner was pitching a show similar to The Checkout to the ABC without him. Murray referred to Morrow as the chief villain from Harry Potter's books and films in an email to ABC executives. Morrow's charges were dismissed, and the Supreme Court has now declined to hear an appeal against that decision.

Influencers sue Chinese restaurant Silver Pearl after being accused of faking food poisoning to avoid paying for $364 lobster dinner

After being accused of faking illness and unable to pay for their Christmas dinner, three food bloggers filed a lawsuit against Silver Pearl's owners. Julia Nguyen (right), Belinda Nguyen, and Jennifer Doman say their reputations were tarnished after Silver Pearl's executives called them dishonest diners in an Instagram post (left). 'They screamed to workers that they were "feeling sick" and accused us of giving them frozen lobster rather than fresh/live lobster, which ostensibly was the reason for their "feeling sick," the newspaper said. The restaurant accused the three children of finishing their meal and leaving them homeless, but they then took the same order at another restaurant across the street. In Federal Court, the three women have filed a defamation lawsuit.
