Forty years ago the naked body of a mother-of-two was found in woods near her Bristol home. She'd been stabbed 14 times. Her killer was never caught. But a retired detective believes she knows exactly who did it...

ON A warm June morning in 1984, a young mother called Shelley Morgan waved her son off to school from the bus stop close to their home. With her eight-year-old daughter Charlotte also already at school, Shelley had a free day ahead of her which, as she told 11-year-old Liam, she intended to spend taking photographs and sketching for her burgeoning art portfolio.
Planting a farewell kiss on his forehead as he boarded the bus, she told him that she would meet him back there at 4.30pm. She didn't show up. Not to the bus stop, or to the family home on the outskirts of Bristol and, despite reports of sightings of 33-year-old Shelley as far afield as Jersey, she had in essence vanished. That is, until four months later when her body -naked except for a pair of maroon tights twisted round her ankles and brown sandals - was found in woodland close to a village seven miles south-west of her home. She had been sexually assaulted and stabbed 14 times.

After a string of sex attacks in the Bristol Downs in the 1970s, Ronald Evans, nicknamed "Clifton Rapist," volunteered at a community center after leaving prison to prey on women, according to his appeal. In July last year, the rapist, who murdered 21-year-old shop employee Kathleen Heathcote in 1963, was found guilty of sexually assaulting the woman. Another woman accused him of groping her breasts and crotch, as well as rubbing his erect penis against her months before, but Evans was not convicted. It's the second time Evans has been released from jail only to assault more women, and it's the newest in a line of Probation Service blunders.
Billy Butlin, the king of holiday camp, has a Clifftop mansion on sale for £2.7 million

The White House, which was built in the Primrose Valley in Yorkshire in the 1930s, was home to Butlins Sir Billy, who made a multi-million pound fortune after starting out as a boy assisting his mother in selling gingerbread at travelling fairgrounds and going on to reimagine the traditional British seaside holiday for the masses. When Sir Billy was so taken with Filey's tiny Yorkshire resort, he established his third Butlin's there and bought the nearby White House, often hosting parties for friends. Following his relocation to Jersey in 1969, his death in 1980, and Filey Butlin's eventual closure in 1983, the 10-bedroom house fell into disuse and was empty when the current owners took it in 2009. Brothers Mark and David Hunter, as well as their friend Gary Mason, all from Filey, renovated the rundown house, turning it into two large apartments with four beach chalets along the beachfront and two others on the beachfront, as well as a games room. In addition, there is also a wrap-around terrace and beach access. Filey is just a short walk along the beach. Then, heading south, there is a scenic walk to Flamborough Head, which is tides permitting. The house has been operating as individual holiday rentals, but the whole area is up for auction by an informal tender, with invitations to Nicholsons of Filey set by November 1.
