The piano trio and string quartet are two Austrian composers from the classical period who is known for contributing to chamber music's evolution. He was a court musician for the wealthy Esterhazy family and composed a number of symphonies and operas.

Before Fame

He went to Hainburg to study music at the age of six. After performing in choir and working as a freelancer, he took over as Kapellmeister or music producer at Count Morzin. He symphonies for the ensemble as a performer and began his career as a singer.

His output included over 108 symphonies, 68 string quartets, 32 divertimenti, 176 trios ranging from barytons, violas, cellos, pianos, and violins, as well as 14 masses.

Family Life

He was born and raised in Rohrau, Austria. Michael Haydn, his younger brother, was also a composer. Maria Anna Keller was married in 1760.
