Virginia Patton, Jimmy Stewart's sister-in-law, Ruth Dakin Bailey, in the classic film It's a Wonderful Life, has died. She was 97 years old. The actress was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on June 25, 1925, and she was niece of General George S. Patton. When she was still an infant, her family moved to Portland, Oregon, where she was destined to attend the University of Southern California. She worked with playwright turned screen writer William C. deMille, who was a founder of the USC film academy while she was there. He was the older brother of director Cecil B. DeMille.
