Fernández is shown by a video from the scene as a man holding a pistol suddenly extended his arm and pointed at her head when she got out of her car. During the scenes in Recoleta, Buenos Aires, the politician ducked out of the way as many others in the audience erupted in terror. Following the suspected assassination attempt, security Minister Anbal Fernández reported that the perpetrator, 35-year-old Brazilian man Fernando Montiel (bottom inset), was arrested.
