About

Structural engineer who conceived the Sears Tower and formulated the building's principles. Tubular designs, particularly as used in high-rise buildings, have been dubbed the Father of tubular designs. Pioneered CAD or computer-aided design.

Before Fame

At Urbana-Champaign, he obtained a Ph.D. in structural engineering from the University of Illinois. His undergraduate studies were carried out at the Bengal Engineering College (later Bengal Engineering & Science University, University of Calcutta) and the University of Dhaka's Ahsanullah Engineering College (later Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology).

Trivia

He designed the Willis Tower, one of the country's tallest buildings, as well as the John Hancock Center, which was 100 stories high.

Family Life

Yasmin, the son of Liselotte, and his wife, Liselotte, had a child. He loved poetry, particularly Rabindranath Tagore's work.
