Fatima Surayya Bajia (); 1 September 1930 – 10 February 2016) was an Urdu novelist, playwright, and drama writer from Pakistan. She has received various awards both nationally and abroad, including Japan's highest civil award for her services. Bajia remained Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh province in Pakistan and was a member of the Arts Council of Pakistan's managing committee. She died on February 10, 2016 in Karachi, aged 85.
Bajia, a well-known social security, literary Radio, television, and Stage personality, wrote for PTV Centres Islamabad and Lahore since the introduction of those television channels. Mehman was the author of her first long play. Under the name Aaraish-e-Khaam-e-Kakal, she worked on literary projects including Auraaq and beauty care services. Early life
She was born near "Panj Bibi Peak" in the town of Raichur, India's current state of Karnataka. Soon after independence, she and her family immigrated to Pakistan. Since her flight to Karachi was delayed, Bajia first became involved with PTV, and she returned to PTV Islamabad station for a visit. In 1966, director Agha Nasir cast her and Bajia in one of his plays. She began writing right away.Nasir is quoted to have said,
Bajia would actually move with her possessions to the TV station and then become an authority by default, according to him.
