Oilers star Connor McDavid sinks Stars in double OT to give Edmonton a 3-2 Game 1 win in the Western Conference Finals after botching open-net chance

Connor McDavid bounced back from costly mistake in the first overtime to score the game winner for the Oilers in the second as Edmonton took a 1-0 series lead over the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Finals with a 3-2 victory. McDavid shockingly failed to score on a nearly open net with five minutes left in the first overtime before finally winning the game in the first minute of the second OT. Dallas' Tyler Seguin sent to the game to overtime with his equalizer late in the third period on assists from Evgenii Dadonov and Jason Robertson.

PLAYOFF ROUNDUP: The Panthers are baffled when taking the lead in a 2-0 series

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 5, 2023

The Panthers defeated the Leafs 3-2 in Toronto on Thursday, giving them a 2-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals following their first-round upset of the top-seeded Boston Bruins. Sheldon Keefe, the Leafs' head coach, was particularly worried about the Panthers' second-period results, in which the Panthers scored two unanswered goals. 'Disappointing' Keefe said, 'Baffling.' We didn't make those mistakes one time in the last series [first round against Tampa].'
