Members of the Screen Actors Guild are protesting after their calls for increased salaries and guarantees against artificial intelligence were not fulfilled. Nonbinary and Gender-Fluid Actors Have to Make a Tough Choice When Submitting For Awards

www.popsugar.co.uk, June 8, 2023
When the 2023 Tony nominations were announced on May 2nd, two nominees made history. J. Harrison Ghee, a "Shucked" actor and "Some Like It Hot" actor, became the first openly nonbinary individuals to be recognized in the acting categories. But, there's also sting: the Tonys don't have gender neutral acting categories, so both Newell and Ghee have been nominated in the "actor" category. The call for gender neutral acting categories at major award shows has grown in recent years, due in large part to the increased exposure of nonbinary actors. Liv Hewson, a "Yellowjackets" actress who plays Teen Van on the show, told Variety in April that they would not be applying for the Emmys at all because of the show's gender-segregated categories.

During the Hollywood writers' strike, a complete list of shows was suspended

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 13, 2023
Since the writers' strike began on May 2, increasing numbers of shows have had to suspend production or completely close down. Thousands of film and television writers have been hit the picket lines after the Writers Guild of America called its first strike in 16 years. As the trial is expected to reach its third week, it is likely to damage Hollywood productions. Analysts are expecting the strike to last three months or more, so further shows that were not planned for release in the fall season are likely to halt filming or suspend pre-production.

Natalia Dyer Lights Up Paris Fashion Week With a Fiery New Hair Color, she is a "Stranger Things."

www.popsugar.co.uk, March 2, 2023
Natalia Dyer was the oddest thing to happen, but she did not go ginger. On Feb. 28, the actress premiered her new light orange hair at Paris Fashion Week. At the Saint Laurent show, the "Stranger Things" actress first displayed the warm auburn colour, transforming it into tousled waves that fell all the way past her shoulders. Her fringe also grew longer than ever before, maturing enough to be swept away from her face and even tucked behind her ear. This isn't the first time Dyer has experimented with hair color, beginning with a darker shade of red and a shorter fringe at a Saint Laurent show in September 2022. We've also seen her go jet-black, chocolate brown, and even a dark brown, with her usually returning to some sort of fail-safe brunette and micro fringe. Nancy Wheeler's character on the Netflix series, on the other hand, has undergone hair transformation as well, as she transitioned from a long brown style to shorter, shoulder-length curls. This vibrant orange hue, on the other hand, may be our new favorite to date.

www.popsugar.co.uk, January 12, 2023
Fair warning: Emma D'Arcy's Golden Globes glam ends in tears. The "House of the Dragon" actress shed the most beautiful tear we've ever seen at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 1023. A single shimmering teardrop fell from their eye in a complementary shade of blue, transforming their signature short hair from fiery red to a deep indigo. Holly Silius, D'Arcy's makeup artist, got most of the ideas for this emotional look from John Waters' "Cry Baby" film. "I studied him for my dissertation at a university, so I always go back to these raw images for personal inspiration of resistance and paving your own way," Silius said in a press release.

Princess Leia Buns' Golden Globes Fiero Twist on Rihanna Puts a Modern Twist

www.popsugar.co.uk, January 12, 2023
At the Golden Globes on Jan. 10, Rihanna seemed to be a work of art from head to toe. As her dramatic puff-sleeved Schiaparelli gown, the multihyphenate actress made her surprise debut at the award show wearing an updo as head-turning. Yusef Williams, a hair stylist, converted her hair into two prominent buns, which she described as "Princess-Leia-Meets-Wakanda." Williams weave wires through two braids to maintain the desired look, then layered twisted hair on top of each braid to create a seamless finish. "At first she was like, 'OK, I don't wanna look like Princess Leia,' but in the end, we were like, 'But what's wrong with Princess Leia? "She was f*cking strong," he said. The finishing touch? A thin sliver of bangs curved into a C shape, as late Hollywood icon Josephine Baker. We wouldn't be surprised if this hairstyle becomes A ThingTM this award season.

I am a Chaotic Bisexual, and I Tried a Negroni Sbagliato to Impress Emma D'Arcy

www.popsugar.co.uk, October 12, 2022
When asked about their drink of choice in a viral TikTok video shared by HBO Max, Emma D'Arcy of "House of the Dragon" spoke for the bisexual group. They replied costar Olivia Cooke with a grin. They paused briefly before adding, "Sbagliato" with the Italian trill dripping off the tongue, "with Prosecco in it." I mean, — pants were creamed, as I said. Many people were keen to try the classic with a twist over the long weekend. "emma d'arcy, prosecco" changed the course of my life" and "the lgbtq community was on their way to the nearest bar so they can order a negroni sbagliato with prosecco in it," Queer Twitter exploded with tweets like "emma d'arcy speaking "sbagliato changed the course of my life" and "the lgbtq community can order aprosecco" and Them. "A simple drink order has become a viral queer calling card," Emma D'Arcy of House of the Dragons writes. Because if Tumblr conditioned us Internet Queers to do one thing, it's to say that memes portray our whole personality. With Prosecco, ordering a negroni sbagliato is now the equivalent of cuffing our jeans or seated awkwardly in chairs. Does that mean anything more than harmless fun? Maybe not, but not necessarily not. But the point is, we love the opportunity to create community out of an inside joke, which has been passed on.

House of the Dragon's Milly Alcock on her 'gnarly' experience of filming in a brothel

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 18, 2022
Milly Alcock, the Dragon's director, has spoken out about the filming scenes for the series in a brothel, where she claims extras were in sex positions for up to 12 hours. Milly Alcock, the Dragon's House, claims she was refused entry to Emma D'Arcy's House of the Dragons

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 31, 2022
The spin-off/prequel House of the Dragon is already employing significant time jumps in the first two episodes, unlike its predecessor Game of Thrones. That news isn't surprising considering that there are characters such as Rhaenyra Targaryen portrayed by younger (Milly Alcock) and older (Emma D'Arcy) version, with Alicent Hightower playing younger and older characters, as well as Olivia Cooke older. Alcock, 22, plays Princess Rhaenrya at just 15 years old, but the actress admitted in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter that she was "discouraged" from seeing D'Arcy before shooting.
