TOM COLLOMOSSE: Everyone enjoys a chuckle at Nottingham Forest 's expense, don't they? Buying players by the bus-load and not bothering to tell the manager. Ending up with a points deduction because somebody forgot to do the sums. Using X to hint at legal action against referees' governing body PGMOL because they were unhappy with a couple of refereeing decisions. At 5pm last Saturday, however, the only people laughing were the Forest players.

Elliot Anderson revealed the feeling of pulling on an England jersey swayed him to pledge his international allegiance to the Three Lions after years of tussling with Scotland.  The Nottingham Forest midfielder made his England debut in the Under 21s' goalless draw with Northern Ireland on Friday night. Anderson has already appeared for Scotland at that level - plus three other age groups - and the rivals were competing for the youngster's loyalty.  The Newcastle United academy graduate has now committed to England after talks with the FA. 'It was tough because I'm Scottish and English,' said Anderson. 'But it's something I've been trying to decide for a while and I hope I've made the right decision. 'It is just how you feel when you put the strip on and that is what swayed my decision.' 

ISAAN KHAN: Arsenal's transfer dealings this summer took them all the way to a few hours after the official deadline, until finally confirming the signing of Raheem Sterling on loan from Chelsea. And thanks to a summer of shrewd business both in and out, they are all set up to go again in January. The Gunners are in a very strong financial position, at a time rivals are struggling to navigate the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). Newcastle were forced to consider selling star man Anthony Gordon to Liverpool, and did eventually let promising young talent go in Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson, in a mad dash before the June 30 PSR deadline. Liverpool bought one player this summer, Federico Chiesa, for just £10million and Manchester City also kept their powder dry, with Savinho's £21m move from sister club Troyes their only major incoming despite raising £159m through sales. But Arsenal, even after spending more than £100m to bring in four players including Sterling's loan, are primed to go again.

TOM COLLOMOSSE AT THE CITY GROUND: Though Anderson did not want to leave local club Newcastle in the summer, assurances about regular first-team football helped sweeten the deal and he is settling in well. The next challenge is to make the breakthrough at international level. With Ibrahim Sangare or Ryan Yates holding the fort in front of the back four, he is free to charge forward and combine with Forest's other creative players.

West Ham midfielder James Ward-Prowse is reportedly set to join Nottingham Forest on loan.  The England international joined the hammers from Southampton for £30million last summer and went on to make 52 appearances, scoring seven goals.  However, he has played just 16 minutes under new head coach Julen Lopetegui having come on as a substitute in the opening weekend defeat by Aston Villa. 

Eddie Howe is happy for 'richest club in the world' Newcastle to go under the radar as they look to upstage their big-spending Premier League rivals. The Magpies boss has endured a frustrating summer with little in-coming transfer activity in addition to having to sell young prospects Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh for a combined £65m to remain within the league's profit and sustainability rules. After failing with three bids for £70m-rated Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi Newcastle are yet to bring in a marquee signing ahead of the new campaign, which they kick-off at home to Southampton on Saturday.

A football finance expert believes Manchester United were close to breaching the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) last season, but managed to comply with the top-flight's restrictions thanks to two 'exceptional allowances.' Last season, Everton were sanctioned twice by the Premier League for falling foul of their financial restrictions, with the Toffees being deducted a total of eight points for two separate charges after falling foul of the rules. Nottingham Forest were also handed a four-point fine for admitting a breach of the league's rules. PSR has caused chaos around the English top-flight, with teams having to think cleverly on how to comply with the rules.

The 23-year-old joined Nottingham Forest from Chelsea on deadline day of last year's summer transfer window. He impressed in front of goal in the most recent Premier League campaign, scoring eight goals in 29 appearances. His impressive displays have reportedly attracted the interest of a number of sides.

CRAIG HOPE IN GELSENKIRCHEN: Martin Dubravka says he needs to talk to Newcastle boss Eddie Howe after seeing the club sign two goalkeepers over the weekend. The 35-year-old was in action for Slovakia here in Germany on Sunday and he and his team-mates performed admirably during their 2-1 defeat by England. Dubravka had noted Newcastle's talks with Odysseas Vlachodimos earlier in the day, and the Greek stopper signed from Nottingham Forest later on Sunday evening in a deal that helped ease the club's PSR issues, with Elliot Anderson heading to the City Ground. Veteran keeper John Ruddy then joined the Magpies on a free transfer on Monday.

The proposal is one of many Newcastle are juggling as they, and other clubs, work towards raising revenue to meet PSR guidelines by Sunday's June 30 accounting deadline.

The 27-year-old's return to six goals in Wolves' first ten games is the best for the club in the top flight since legendary striker Derek Dougan 50 years ago. Since suffering from injuries, he's demonstrating why he borrowed £14 million from Leipzig at the start of last year.

Newcastle's Sean Longstaff believes they have the resources to deal with Sandro Tonali's imminent death, and the Italian has denied allegations that the Italian has never been content on Tyneside. Tonali is expected to learn the length of his ostensible gambling ban, with reports in Italy indicating that a departure of between ten and twelve months is likely. That information could have been released prior to Borussia Dortmund's visit in the Champions League on Wednesday. Longstaff, a fellow midfielder, said: "I'm positive we can do it."
