The two designers of Princess Diana's wedding dress have settled a High Court battle over the auctioning of drawings of their designs. David Emanuel sued his ex-wife and business partner Elizabeth Emanuel over alleged copyright infringement nearly four years ago. He claimed she reproduced sketches of their designs for Diana, including the gown she wore to marry Prince Charles in 1981, and put them up for sale without his consent. 

When Diana Spencer became engaged to Prince Charles, she confessed to having only 'one long dress, one silk shirt, one smart pair of shoes, and that was it'. Consequently, she hurriedly purchased 'six of everything' ahead of her royal wedding in 1981. On the big day, the bride made her grand entrance at St Paul's Cathedral in an ivory silk taffeta and antique lace gown (left), featuring a 25-foot train, by David and Elizabeth Emanuel. For a Christmas church service at Sandringham in 1990, Diana wore this show-stopping two-tone set by Moschino (second from left). In October 1985, the Princess again wore a dress (second form right) that was part of a line designed by Charles's former lover, Dale Tyron. And in 1994, she famously wore what became known as the 'Revenge Dress' (right) on the same night Charles confessed to his affair with Camilla.

When the first dress that Jacques Azagury designed for Princess Diana fell short of records at auction late last year as the most expensive of her gowns to sell at auction, the couturier was travelling around India. He had withdrawn from fashion and closed his eponymous shop in Knightsbridge, south-west London, when the auction took place at Julien's Auctions in Los Angeles.

The blouse is the first in a line of lots being auctioned in a four-day auction, which begins at Julien's Auctions in Los Angeles on December 14.
