Elizabeth Debicki (left) thanked The Crown writer Peter Morgan from the stage of the Emmy 's when she won for her portrayal of Princess Diana earlier this month. But actually Morgan owes a debt of gratitude to the actress, 34, as she's saved him from even worse embarrassment over the programme's portrayal of Mohamed Al Fayed (inset). In series six of The Crown, Morgan showed the Harrods boss - already by that point the subject of numerous complaints over sexual abuse - as a kindly, even fatherly figure for the Princess. A number of the women who took part in the BBC 's exposé of rapes and assault - titled Al Fayed: Predator At Harrods - said they decided to speak out over anger at how he was portrayed in the Netflix show. But, due to Debicki's performance being so good in the series, it forced him to re-think the entire story.

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F review: A pleasing nostalgia trip, writes BRIAN VINER
www.dailymail.co.uk,
July 5, 2024
None of the Beverly Hills Cop sequels have matched the original, and the same is true of this latest Netflix effort, the first for 30 years. And yet it's genuine fun, all the same and an ideal platform for Murphy, an evergreen 63, to show that as cocksure Axel Foley he still commands the screen with that matchless ability to play for laughs and thrills at the same time. On the whole, first-time director Mark Molloy astutely abides by Murphy's law: give rascally Axel enough funny lines (co-writer Will Beall is himself a former Los Angeles detective) and daft escapades (which here involve a stolen helicopter, golf cart and 10-ton truck) and he will keep the show on the road.
