Forget Michael Olise, there's one player Crystal Palace lost in the summer that they're REALLY missing now... writes MARTIN KEOWN
www.dailymail.co.uk,
October 4, 2024
MARTIN KEOWN: Crystal Palace finished last season as one of the Premier League's form teams under new boss Oliver Glasner. Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze were firing at the top end of the pitch while Marc Guehi and Joachim Andersen formed an impressive backbone in defence. Those four were the jewels in Palace's crown. Palace rejected close to £70million from Newcastle for Guehi in the summer but lost Olise to Bayern Munich for around £50m after the German giants triggered his release clause.
Mail Sport's FPL predictions: Which explosive bandwagon has fantasy managers purring ahead of Gameweek 7? Who is the 'best value pick in the game'? And can Erik ten Hag finally end his winless run at Aston Villa?
www.dailymail.co.uk,
October 4, 2024
Liverpool have a shot at taking a four-point advantage over their Premier League title rivals this weekend as they get us going in the 12:30pm Saturday kick-off against Crystal Palace. Gameweek 7 also offers peril if you're connected with Manchester United , particularly if your name is Erik ten Hag . Erling Haaland didn't score last weekend against Newcastle, believe it or not, but still costs you the prettiest penny out of all with a price of £15.3million.

Revealed: How wasteful Man United have missed the most big chances in the Premier League this season - but which player is the biggest culprit?
www.dailymail.co.uk,
September 24, 2024
The Red Devils have had a mixed start to the campaign and are currently 11th in the league table, with two wins, one draw and two defeats to their names so far. Erik ten Hag had bid to turn around his side's goal scoring struggles from last year, with United scoring 57 league goals - the fewest in the top half of the table - in the league last term. Those struggles are yet to turn around, however, with United drawing 0-0 with Crystal Palace on Saturday despite having 15 shots and nearly 67 per cent of possession.

www.dailymail.co.uk,
September 18, 2024
Comedian Jimmy Carr enjoyed a night out at the football yesterday as Crystal Palace beat Queens Park Rangers 2-1 in the third round of the League Cup. The 8 Out of 10 Cats presenter was in the crowd at Loftus Road in West London and sat in the front row of the Summix Capital Lounge hospitality area. The 52-year-old wore a smart suit and appeared to be having a great time - laughing, smiling and joking with a group of friends in the front row of the VIP section. Carr is known to be friends with QPR co-owner Amit Bhatia, although it is not known who invited him or whether he supports either team in last night's game. He took his seat just after kick-off at 7.45pm, then returned to the indoor hospitality area at half-time - before remerging about ten minutes into the second half. Carr then left around 9.30pm shortly before the end of the match, which saw Eagles star Eberechi Eze score and provide an assist on his return to former club QPR.

Man United are 'eyeing-up a move for Eberechi Eze next summer' - with the Crystal Palace star's £68m release clause set to re-activate in 2025
www.dailymail.co.uk,
September 9, 2024
Manchester United are reportedly keeping an eye on Eberechi Eze ahead of a possible move for the Crystal Palace star next summer. Eze, 26, has shone at Selhurst Park ever since joining Palace from QPR in 2020, with the attacking midfielder working his way into the England squad following his impressive performances. He was part of the Three Lions' group at Euro 2024 and many were left surprised that the 26-year-old didn't move in the summer window, although Palace sold Michael Olise to Bayern Munich for £50million.
Revealed: Eberechi Eze's expired £68m release clause will re-activate next year - after Crystal Palace kept hold of the England star this summer amid interest from top Premier League clubs
www.dailymail.co.uk,
September 4, 2024
EXCLUSIVE BY SAMI MOKBEL: Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze's expired release clause worth £68million will re-activate next year. Mail Sport revealed in June that the England international had the buy-out price - made up of an initial £60million plus a further £8m in add-ons - included in the three-and-a-half year contract he signed with the Selhurst Park club last November. But following a summer of uncertainty surrounding Eze's future amid initial interest from England's top clubs, the clause elapsed ahead of the Premier League campaign as the attacker remained at Selhurst Park.
Oliver Glasner's half-time video nasty sparked Crystal Palace into life against Chelsea - as the Eagles rescue a point courtesy of a goal from Eberechi Eze
www.dailymail.co.uk,
September 1, 2024
KIERAN GILL AT STAMFORD BRIDGE: Glanser's video nasty helped Crystal Palace come from behind to frustrate Chelsea, with the Austrian showing his players clips of where they were going wrong during the half-time break at Stamford Bridge. Palace boss Glasner leaned on his analysts to come up with the footage so that he could correct their mistakes before the second half. Palace posed much more of a threat after that video session.
Chelsea 1-1 Crystal Palace: Enzo Maresca's side left to rue missed chances - as Eberechi Eze's wonder strike gives Eagles a point at Stamford Bridge
www.dailymail.co.uk,
September 1, 2024
KIERAN GILL AT STAMFORD BRIDGE: Chelsea had wasted enough chances that when Eberechi Eze picked up possession 20 yards from goal, a feeling of inevitability fell over Stamford Bridge. The curler was out of Robert Sanchez's reach and with that, Enzo Maresca was denied his first Premier League win at home. For all the talent to walk through the door, with Jadon Sancho the latest big name to arrive on a season-long loan from Manchester United, it is hard not to scrutinise who Chelsea failed to land after leaving as disappointed as they did yesterday. Namely the superstar striker who could have made sure they won this match, their negotiations with Napoli's Victor Osimhen ultimately leading nowhere even as they continued deep into deadline day. Nicolas Jackson is a player full of promise, hence why he is set to sign a contract extension until 2033 as a reward for the progress made in his first Premier League season. He tapped in an assist from Cole Palmer to open the scoring here and celebrated by forming a gun with his fingers.

Opta's supercomputer backs Man United as more likely to LOSE at Brighton and suggests a reversed result from last season which could tilt title race... and which promoted team are set for first win?
www.dailymail.co.uk,
August 22, 2024
Opta's supercomputer has delivered its match predictions for this weekend's second round of Premier League fixtures and believes Brighton have a better chance of beating Manchester United at the Amex Stadium this on Saturday lunchtime. The 2024-25 Premier League season got off to a bang last weekend, with plenty of talking points rising out of a bumper opening round of fixtures. VAR was once again a hot topic, with Everton fans bemoaning the system following their 3-0 defeat against Brighton at Goodison Park, after the video referee system ruled out a penalty chance. Eberechi Eze also had a free-kick disallowed by the system during Crystal Palace's 2-1 defeat against Brentford.
Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner says referee Sam Barrott is a 'great man' after he admitted he made a mistake in ruling out Eberechi Eze's free-kick against Brentford
www.dailymail.co.uk,
August 19, 2024
Eze thought he had put Palace ahead in the first half when his long-range strike deceived Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken at his near post. But Barrott blew his whistle for a foul in the box before the ball hit the net , with the official deeming Will Hughes had pushed defender Nathan Collins to the floor. Replays showed there was minimal, if any, contact from Hughes. There was a brief VAR check but, because Barrott had blown his whistle before the ball had crossed the line, it was not possible to overturn the decision.
Revealed: The reason why Eberechi Eze's stunning free-kick against Brentford was ruled out and VAR did NOT intervene - as Jamie Redknapp claims referee 'had a nightmare' in denying Crystal Palace star
www.dailymail.co.uk,
August 18, 2024
The Crystal Palace faithful had reason to be aggrieved when Eze's impressive free-kick goal, crashing in off the post, was denied due to a scuffle in the box. Referee Samuel Barrott felt that Palace's Will Hughes had fouled Nathan Collins and blew up for a foul with the ball in mid-flight. The decision sparked intense scrutiny at half-time from the Sky Sports pundits who felt, as lots of viewers did, that there had been no foul at all.
Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze is now 14/1 with Sky Bet to score from outside the area against Brentford today
www.dailymail.co.uk,
August 18, 2024
There are four Price Boosts available with Sky Bet for Brentford vs Crystal Palace at Gtech Community Stadium today. The first two boosts require Eberechi Eze to win two or more fouls, and Christian Norgaard to commit 3+ fouls. The odds for those two particular bets are 1/1 and 4/1 respectively. Meanwhile, the other two boosts on offer require there to be 12+ match shots on target at 5/1, and Eze to score from outside the area at 14/1.
Revealed: Eberechi Eze's £60m release clause has EXPIRED, amid interest in the Crystal Palace star from Man City and Tottenham
www.dailymail.co.uk,
August 16, 2024
SAMI MOKBEL: Eze (left) could have been sold without Palace fighting bids up until Thursday evening, with the release clause in his contract, worth £60m plus £8m in add-ons, now not valid. Any bids to sign Eze this summer may now have to be higher than the fee that would have been required prior to Friday, with Eagles chairman Steve Parish recently bullish on potential player sales. Already losing Michael Olise, there has been interest in both Joachim Andersen and Marc Guehi from Fulham and Newcastle respectively, leaving Palace at risk of losing a number of key players.
