Knowing that a loss would likely doom them to an early elimination, the Americans converted an early penalty and then tacked on two more in the first half to take a 3-0 lead. US Soccer has announced its 18-player roster for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Highlighting the squad are defenders Miles Robinson and Walker Zimmerman, who have both captained the United States' senior team in the past and are two of over 23-year-old players allowed per roster. The United States has also selected midfielder Djordje Mihailovic as the third overaged roster member.

On Saturday, the 23-year-old sustained a head injury in Lille's Ligue 1 match against Toulouse, and the US Soccer Federation announced on Sunday that Weah had entered the French domestic league's concussion protocol. Following Lille's 2-0 victory, the winger seemed to be doing well, as shown in a video shared by teammate Jonathan Bamba on Snapchat, with the American holding an ice pack to the right side of his head.

USA Soccer has announced a training camp in Texas for players on MLS teams that aren't in the Cup Playoffs in order to stay healthy. It's being seen as an opportunity for players on the fringes of the squad to prove themselves with one last chance to fly to Qatar. The USSF said in a tweet that it is "important to bridge the gap between players finishing their seasons and future participation in the World Cup."

As Montreal eventually won by a 4-3 victory, the match featured seven goals, but the records themselves occurred in the first minutes of action. According to Opta, Toronto's first ten minutes of the game was the fastest any team had ever achieved this feat in the MLS this season.
