www.dailymail.co.uk,

Rather than embracing adulthood as an aspirational destination, many youngsters seem happy to exist in a world of elongated teenagerdom.
In study after study, the data makes it abundantly clear that young people are eschewing grown-up activities and avoiding many of the responsibilities that come with early adulthood, including working, volunteering, managing their own finances, securing a driving licence, or even going on a date - all things that, until very recently, were considered ways of differentiating children from young adults.
Exposed: Where the £3million we hand over to anti-knife 'charity's' pushy High Street collectors REALLY ends up
www.dailymail.co.uk,

With their eye-catching blue jackets and promises to fight knife crime, the throngs of pushy young fundraisers pleading for donations have become a fixture on high streets across Britain. But today a Mail on Sunday investigation can reveal that the organisation they belong to, Inside Success Union CIC, is raking in millions from the generosity of the unsuspecting public and spending virtually all of it on its own staff salaries - and it is not even a registered charity. Last night, the Fundraising Regulator watchdog said it was investigating after the MoS discovered:

Vince Power, 76, died on May 31: Tributes to the 'visionary' promoter who grew up the Mean Fiddler festival in Reading and Leeds and was credited with altering the face of live music in the United Kingdom

Vince Power, the Irish-born father-of-eight (bottom left in 1990, right in 2020, bottom right with Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan), had a number of jobs, including turning ice cream bars into boxes before he rose to become a central figure in the music industry. With headline acts ranging from Nirvana and the Stone Roses to Eminem and Dizzee Rascal, he converted the Reading Festival from a struggling jazz festival that he started in 1989 to a highlight of the music scene. Power's list of events (bottom right, last year) appeared at Leeds Festival in 1999. In 1982, Mean Fiddler, a former gambling den in Harlesden, north-west London, that had previously been frequented by gangsters the Kray twins and the Richardsons, opened in a former gambling den, which had once been frequented by gangsters the Kray twins and the Richardsons. It was there that the likes of the Pogues, Johnny Cash, and Roy Orbison appeared. Nell, the power's daughter, paid tribute to her father on Instagram yesterday. 'My always optimistic funny driven warm father" a slew of photos (one inset) of them together, she wrote, 'My eternally positive funny driven generous warm dad.' A number of actors had their own warm words for the promoter. HMV collapsed into administration and closed stores across the country, but Britain's beloved music business is on a comeback driven by vinyl-loving Gen Zs fed up of streaming - and now plans to expand into Europe and Canada
www.dailymail.co.uk,
January 5, 2024
HMV is back, just a decade after defunct as young music enthusiasts abandon streaming in favour of vinyl and physical media, according to one of its bosses. Generation Z, according to Phil Halliday, the firm's managing director, is assisting the once-ailing chain in resurrecting its position as one of the High Street's most recognizable and dependable shops. Vinyl has seen a revival in popularity, with record sales in the 21st century hitting new heights last year - although many people are still suffering from'streaming exhaustion.' This, as well as a dramatic rise in cassette sales, that Mr Halliday says has left HMV'very optimistic' about the future, it's this. As a result of record-breaking sales, the company, which was once forced to close down stores and layoff employees, is now planning an exciting expansion into Europe and Canada.
CLARE FOGES admits that I'm a Christmas party pooper, after being greeted by alcoholic beverages and watching George Osborne dance to Dizzee Rascal

LINKS: If you are looking for cheap fizz, you are cordially invited to remove your sparkly Santa earrings and engage in a long small talk. ' RSVP.' Yes, it's the season of coerced chat with colleagues for the past 11 months of the year, as well as being booed at loud music by a bloke with fishy canapé breath. As much as a dose of festive norovirus, I enjoy Christmas party season. The fright begins when choosing The Dress, which must include a sparklier and sexier version of your non-festive self. However, the difference between aspiration and reality is the one that causes the most trouble for Christmas parties. We have visions of wowing our colleagues; impressing the boss; and kissing Mr Darcy's look-alike from marketing. Rather, the truth is that we are allered and tense underwear, we drink heavily, and Mr Darcy is a no-show.

The festival was supposed to conclude at 9 p.m., but witnesses said the crowds were still on the road at 11 p.m.

As his appeal against conviction and sentence was denied, the musician, who is best known for chart-topping singles Bonkers and Dance Wiv Me, sat quietly in the dock at Inner London Crown Court. Ms Jones said today that the court's decision showed that "wealth and position cannot be used to silence women," and that "help is out there." She explained how the appeal had been "hugely upsetting" for her, and that the experience had helped her understand why "so many women are removed from the criminal justice system."

In March, mills also crushed a camera of PA Media photographer James Manning outside the courthouse, right after his guilty verdict was delivered.
