Diego Matias Hypólito (born June 19, 1986) is a Brazilian gymnast and the 2005 and 2007 World Champions of the floor exercise.
He is the first male gymnast from Brazil and South America to win a medal at the World Championships.
He also earned 63 medals in the World Cup.
Hypólito has competed in three Olympics: 2008, 2012, and 2016.

Early life
Hypólito was born in Santo André, So Paulo, but he later moved to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is the son of a bus driver, Wagner Hypólito, and a seamstress, Geni Matias. He has Greek ancestry through his father (the surname Hypólito is derived from the Greek surname Hippolyte, which was translated when his ancestors immigrated to Brazil); through his mother, he is also of Portuguese descent;
He had his first contact with the Flamengo Rowing Club as an infant, the same one his sister Daniele used to train. He concentrated in solo exercises, first as infantil and then as jnior, at her request.
Personal life
In May 2019, Hypólito came out as gay. Hypólito wrote an article for UOL Esports about years of struggling with his sexuality as a result of his deeply religious upbringing, but "I want people to know that I'm gay and that I'm not ashamed of it."
Career
Following in his older sister's footsteps, Hypólito began gymnastics at age seven. He won the floor exercise competition at the 1997 Brazilian National Championships in the children's division, and he was the 2001 junior national champion.
Hypólito had competed in the 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2007 World Championships by the age of 21. In all five competitions, he qualified, placing fifth in 2002, fourth in 2003, and a gold medal in 2005. Hypólito became the first male South American gymnast to compete at the World Championships with his 2005 win.
Hypólito contracted dengue fever in the spring of 2008. However, he was able to recover and resume training in Beijing, where he was Brazil's only MAG representative. He competed on floor and vault, earning him a first place finish in first place with a score of 15.950. He dropped on his last tumbling pass to finish in sixth place in the floor finals.
Hypólito was one of three male Brazilians in artistic gymnastics at the 2012 Summer Olympics, but he was disqualified during the qualification process. However, he came in fourth in qualifying for the floor exercise and took home a silver medal in the individual event final in the 2016 Summer Olympics, which took place in his home country.
