News about Deivid Washington

How a dodgy failed deadline-day move proves Chelsea are the worst-run club in Britain, writes IAN HERBERT

IAN HERBERT: Football players are transactional commodities for Clearlake, the club's owners, as the extraordinary deadline day story of Deivid Washington only went to show. Clearlake's punt on the 19-year-old Brazilian for Chelsea hasn't exactly delivered - he's played 25 minutes' football since arriving a year ago - so they tried to weigh him off to Strasbourg, another club in their ownership group, for a £17million sum which would have turned their initial outlay on the utterly unproven player into a £5m profit.

Chelsea 'set to sell Deivid Washington to Strasbourg - the Ligue 1 club with the same owners - for £17.6m'... with Blues turning a profit despite 19-year-old playing just 25 minutes for them

Chelsea are reportedly on the cusp of selling 19-year-old centre forward Deivid Washington to Strasbourg - the Ligue 1 club that is also owned by Blues boss Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital. According to L'Equipe, both clubs are 'close to finalising a deal for Washington' who could be sold for around £17.6million (€21m). The centre forward joined Chelsea for £17m back in 2023 from Brazilian side, Santos, and the west London outfit now looks set to make a £600,000 uplift on the striker, should he join the French club.

Chelsea 'plot £47m swoop for Brazilian wonderkid, 17, dubbed "Messinho"' - who's a team-mate of Endrick but played just 12 times!

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 3, 2024
Estevao Willian, 17, has gained the nickname 'Messinho' for his performances on the wing after coming through the academy of Palmeiras. The Blues are set to bid £25.5m with possible add-ons reaching £21m for the youngster, having already had two advances snubbed. It's a similar situation to Real Madrid paying £52m for Endrick because Willian comes from the same club and is just 12 games deep into his professional career.

PLAYER RATINGS: Conor Bradley was simply sublime as he scored his first Liverpool goal, while one Chelsea defender scores just THREE out of 10

LEWIS STEELE AT ANFIELD: Liverpool defeated Chelsea 4-1, keeping their five-point lead at the top of the Premier League intact. However, Darwin Nunez, a Liverpool striker, didn't score despite hitting the woodwork four times and establishing a new Premier League record, making it a mixed evening. Lewis Steele, Mail Sport's Liverpool reporter, gives his player evaluations from Anfield.

TRANSFER CONFIDENTIAL: Michael Edwards' return to Liverpool would make perfect sense, and Man United are trying to bind down a young celebrity, while Chelsea's £60 million price tag for Conor Gallagher puts the club off, although clubs are dissatisfied with the Chelsea's £60 million price tag for Conor Gallagher

SIMON JONES: Jurgen Klopp's pending departure, as well as sports director Jorg Schmadtke, has sparked a never ending discussion about how Liverpool will recover. One of the most common comments around Anfield is that it would be a good idea to tempt the club's former sports director Michael Edwards back to a new role. Edwards left Liverpool just over a year ago and was regarded as the brains behind Liverpool's impressive recruiting process. He's since founded Ludonautics, alongside Liverpool's former director of research Ian Graham, who is now working with a Premier League club and forming a Bolton Wanderers partnership last week.
