David Hasselhoff Career

Early career

On The Young and the Restless from 1975 to 1982, Hasselhoff portrayed Dr. "Snapper Foster," putting the series's author out many of the original characters. In Resurgent of the Cheerleaders, "Boner" was his first film appearance in 1974, which he did not obtain a membership in the Screen Actors Guild. He was afraid that the film would not be released, but it was two years later, with the tag Caught with their Pants Down appearing. He appeared in Starcrash as "Simon" in 1979. With "Do You Love Me," he began his singing career, appearing on the first season of children's program Kids Incorporated. In 1984, he appeared on two episodes of Diff'rent Strokes and the soap opera Santa Barbara as himself.

Hasselhoff was recruited by then-NBC President Brandon Tartikoff to appear in the action crime drama Knight Rider from 1982 to 1986 as Michael Knight. "It's a phenomenon" says Knight Rider, who has described it as more than a TV show. It's bigger than Baywatch ever was." "It's because it was about saving lives, not taking lives," Knight Rider's triumph, and "it was showing how one man really can make a difference."

"Acting Leslie said it was "a little more difficult than if you had a properly written script," he says, including Reservoir Dogs, or The Godfather, Dances with Wolves, Lawrence of Arabia, or ER, I had to talk to a car." His participation in the program earned him the People's Choice Award for 'Most Popular Actor'.

On Baywatch, which premiered in 1989, Hasselhoff returned to television. Despite the fact that the series was cancelled after just one season, Hasselhoff thought it was worth it, so in 1991, he revived it for the first-run syndication market, investing his own money and also serving as executive producer. His deal for royalties had stipulated royalties to be paid to him from rerun profits, which gave him the ability to buy back the rights to Baywatch from NBC.

Baywatch's second iteration was much more fruitful. The program lasted for 11 years, from the 1990s to its 2001 finale, cementing his place as one of the world's top television stars of the time. Hasselhoff's fortune has been worth more than $100 million, thanks to his royalties and other ventures.

In 1991, Hasselhoff reprised his role as Michael Knight in the television film Knight Rider 2000 as a follow-up to the original film. Despite high ratings, the film was cancelled as a pilot for a new series.

Hasselhoff was named a celebrity on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1996. In 1997, he appeared in a duet with Filipino singer Regine Velasquez, which was used as the main theme in his 1998 film Legacy. He made his Broadway debut in 2000 in the title role of Jekyll & Hyde. He held an event in Los Angeles in August 2001, commemorating Renegade's record of 30 million units worldwide, teaming the Latin rockers and performing in Spanish. He appeared in London performances of Chicago for three months beginning on July 16, 2004.

Hasselhoff has made several self-parodic appearances in films. He appeared in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, which came as himself (though resembling his bygone Baywatch character) and meeting SpongeBob and Patrick (his full name is revealed in the film; he is also known as "Hasselhoff"). Hasselhoff made a brief appearance in the film DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story as the dodgeball coach to Team Hasselhoff, Germany's national dodgeball team. After being barred from a tournament, Berating his team, he yells "Ihr seid alle Schweine!"

(translated: "You are all pigs!

"A common German insult" is slammed" as he smashes a snapshot of himself sporting Baywatch attire. Hasselhoff appears in a washing room during 2004's EuroTrip. Sandler's despicable boss is depicted in Click Hasselhoff's 2006 Adam Sandler film. In an episode of Wildboyz, Hasselhoff appears again. He appeared in Kickin' It Old Skool again in 2007.

He parodys himself in his music video for "Jump in My Car"; this time parodying his role as Michael Knight in Knight Rider. The car in the video was a black Pontiac Trans Am with a pulsing LED and a remarkably similar interior to that of the KITT vehicle in the series. Music career

David Hasselhoff made his musical debut on "Nadia's Theme," the theme song from the American television soap opera "The Young and the Restless" in which Hasselhoff appeared at the time. The song's version appeared on his second album Lovin' Feelings (1987).

Hasselhoff's debut live performance in 1983, his debut single "I Get the Message" was released six years after his debut on stage. In 1984, Hasselhoff appeared on Kids Incorporated's first season as "Do You Love Me," his first studio album, Night Rocker, which was released in January 1985. The album was a huge success in Austria, with it ranked as the top-one and being rated Platinum. Hasselhoff's second studio album, Lovin' Feelings, debuted in Austria and West Germany in 1987 and was rated Gold in the former world. Hasselhoff embarked on his first headlining tour through Austria this year, with a special guest appearance from KITT.

Hasselhoff's album "Looking for Love" was released in 1988, and it became a hit in Europe, particularly in West Germany, where it reached number one for eight weeks in a row. The album was also rated Platinum in West Germany and became the country's highest-performing single of 1989. "Looking for Freedom" also dominated the charts in Austria and Switzerland, and in France and Belgium, reaching the top-twenty. Hasselhoff's third studio album of the same name was released on June 21, 1989, his third studio album of the same name that was produced by German music producer Jack White. The album was a commercial success, debuting in Austria, West Germany, and Switzerland, as well as being named a three-time Platinum in Europe. He was recognized for his appearance at the Berlin Wall on New Year's Eve 1989, two months after the Wall had been demolished, but nine months before unification took place. Hasselhoff, who was wearing a piano-keyboard scarf and a leather jacket with motion lights, stood in a bucket crane and performed the song along with the audience. The performance has left a lasting impression on German pop culture, with Hasselhoff's remarks that the song became a "anthem" and "song of hope" for the people of East Germany. Hasselhoff lamented the absence of a photograph of him in Berlin's Checkpoint Charlie Museum. Hasselhoff's first compilation album, Knight Lover, features 17 of his first two albums, Night Rocker and Lovin' Feelings, which includes 17 hits from his first two albums Night Rocker and Lovin' Feelings. The album reached the top-twenty in Switzerland, as well as the top-forty in West Germany.

Following the success of Looking for Freedom, Hasselhoff embarked on his second tour, The Freedom Tour, which took place in West Germany and Switzerland between April and May 1990. Hasselhoff's fourth studio album, Crazy for You, debuted in Austria and Switzerland, as well as being in the top ten in West Germany, and was eventually Hasselhoff's highest-selling album in his career. Hasselhoff's fifth studio album, David, matched the success of its predecessor, with the album and its lead single "Do the Limbo Dance" reaching number one in Austria. The Dreams Come True Tour, which took place in 1991, 1990, Germany, and Switzerland, that same year, David Hasselhoff embarked on his third tour, the Dreams Come True Tour, to promote David Hasselhoff. Two compilation albums were released in late 1991: Looking for Freedom and For You, the former album containing hits from 1989 to 1990, as well as hits from 1985 to 1987; however, both albums failed to chart. In September 1992, Hasselhoff's sixth studio album Everybody Sunshine, Jack White's last album being produced by him, who collaborated with Hasselhoff since 1988, became his sixth studio album. Despite being certified Gold in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, it didn't appear on his three previous albums, Looking for Victory, Crazy for You, and David.

Hasselhoff released his seventh studio album You Are Everything, which also had modest success in Europe, despite being named Gold in Austria. The songs "If I Could Only Say Goodbye" and "Wir zwei allein" became hit in Europe, with the former becoming his first UK chart entry ever peaking at number 35 and the latter becoming another top-ten hit in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. He released "Pingu Dance" based on the children's show Pinnacle, as well as his fourth compilation album, Crazy for You, which features many hits from 1989 to 1991, but neither collection has reached the top charts. Hasselhoff toured Germany in 1994 in order to advertise You Are Everything. He was supposed to perform a concert on pay-per-view from Atlantic City the previous year. The concert was supposed to aid him in his singing career in the United States. However, O. J. Simpson was involved in a slow-speed chase in southern California on the night of the performance. Due to the chase's live coverage, the concert was much less popular than anticipated, and the loss was ultimately a $1.5 million loss. "90 million viewers watched O.J., including me and my mother and my dad," Hasselhoff joked. Hasselhoff's eighth studio album Du, which became Hasselhoff's first studio album not to receive any accolade in Europe, and the first studio album to receive no recognition in Europe, followed by modest success on European charts.

In 1995, Hasselhoff's self-titled fifth compilation album, David Hasselhoff, was released in the United States, marking his first album in eight years since Lovin' Feelings (1987) was released in the United States. Several songs from the album You Are Everything and Dub & Dub are included on the compilation. As the album's only single, a new album dubbed "Fallin' in Love" was released. David Hasselhoff performed on "Fallin's Love" on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on April 13, 1995, for the first time. Both the album and the single "Fallin' in Love" were financially ineffective as he started his singing career in the United States, as they failed to appear on any Billboard charts. Watch Out for the Bay and Is Everybody Happy were his sixth and seventh compilation albums, with the former album containing songs from 1985 to 1989; the latter, from 1989 to 1991; however, neither album achieved success. "Looking for Freedom" (1989), "Crazy for You" (1990), "Looking for Love" (1994), "Everybody Sunshine" (1993), "Looking for Freedom" (1994), and Laura Branigan's "I Believe" compilation album was released in October 1995. In Austria, the album reached its high point at number 50.

Hasselhoff signed with Polydor Records in 1997 and released his ninth studio album, Hooked on a Feeling. The album was Hasselhoff's least commercial album to that point in his career, becoming his first studio album that failed to chart in Germany. Watch Out For Hasselhoff, 1999.

The Very Best Of and Greatest Hits, two more compilations, were released between 2001 and 2004. Hooked's debut on a Feeling was released in August 2004, with his tenth studio album, David Hasselhoff Sings America, peaking at numbers 11 and 27 in Austria and Germany, respectively. Hasselhoff's 11th studio album, The Night Before Christmas, was his first Christmas album. The album received poor reviews and did not appear on any charts. Hasselhoff's debut "Jump in My Car," which debuted at number three on the UK Singles Chart in 2006, became Hasselhoff's first and only top-ten single in the United Kingdom. It was also his first and only Australian chart entry, with peaking at number 50.

In an interview with Dirk Nowitzki, an NBA star with the Dallas Mavericks and a German immigrant, Hasselhoff was mentioned in May 2006. When shooting foul shots, Nowitzki was asked how he should concentrate. Dirk replied that he sang "Looking for Liberty" to himself. He meant this as a prank, but it was later revealed to be a serious answer. Hasselhoff appeared in the NBA Western Conference Finals on May 26, 2006, just shy of his home playoff game against the Phoenix Suns. When interviewed by Craig Sager, Hasselhoff said he was as much a fan of Nowitzki as Nowitzki, who was a fan of him. As Nowitzki went to the foul line in the 2006 NBA Finals, fans of the Miami Heat in the American Airlines Arena held up facial photos of Hasselhoff and chanted his name. In a tongue-in-cheek advertisement for Pipex, he proclaimed himself "King of the Internet" on August 2, 2006. He appeared at the National Anthem at the NCAA Las Vegas Bowl in December 2008. Despite being shown live by ESPN, the station did not air Hasselhoff's game. A twelfth compilation was published in 2008 under the name of Das Allerbeste.

Hasselhoff's last album, A Real Good Feeling (1997), became the top-thirty in Austria and became Hasselhoff's first album in fourteen years since Hooked on a Feeling (1997) to chart in Switzerland. Hasselhoff performed in many countries to promote the album. He released his thirteen studio album This Time Around in 2012, but it didn't make it to the top charts.

He produced the single "Reality Survivor" in 2015 and later produced a music video, which served as the lead track for the 2015 Swedish short film Kung Fury. Mitch Murder (Johan Bengtsson) produced the song. The song and video, which was shot in Sweden, are intended as an ostentatious over-the-top 1980s tribute/parody, with dinosaurs, kung fu, Adolf Hitler, skateboarding, Norse Gods, and time travelling. By a request from Sweden Universal to "sing a salute to the 1980s," Hasselhoff said. During the 2016 Guldbagge Awards, Hasselhoff performed a live version of the song. "True Survivor" debuted and peaked at number 94 on the Canadian Hot 100, his first chart entry in Canada. As a bonus on the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol., a retro music video titled "Guardians' Inferno" was released in 2017. Hasselhoff's music is on display at two separate home releases.

Hasselhoff's Open Your Eyes, Hasselhoff's fourteenth studio album, was released in September 2019. The album contains covers of well-known songs such as "Sweet Caroline" and "Lips Like Sugar," with no song on the album containing collaborations from other artists, such as Todd Rundgren and Steve Stevens. With the former reaching the top-thirty there, the album charted in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, with the former reaching the top-thirty. On September 9, a promotional music video for the title track was released on YouTube, followed by the album's debut on CD, vinyl, digital download, and streaming services on September 27, 2019. Hasselhoff toured through Austria, Germany, and Switzerland to promote the album as well as the 30th anniversary of the album Looking for Freedom and the song of the same name. The Journey Continues Tour, which took place in October 2019, was released.

"Through The Night" was Hasselhoff's first heavy metal album released on December 10, 2020. The song was recorded in tandem with CueStack, an Austrian couple who also hired Beartooth frontman Caleb Shomo to produce a retro synth-wave remix of the song.
