David Ben is a Canadian stage magician, illusionist, author, magazine, speaker, magician, magician, magician, magic consultant, and former tax prosecutor. Since 1990, he has been a practicing magician, performer, entertainer, and keynote speaker.
Ben is best known for his sleight-of-hand technique, his appreciation of magic history, and his collection of magical items. He is one of the founding members of Magicana, a performing arts group dedicated to the study, discovery, and advancement of magic as a performing art, and he currently serves as the company's artistic director.
He is the publisher and editor of Magicol, a journal of magic history and collectibles.

Early life and education
Ben was born in 1961 and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Since receiving Marvin Kaye's book The Stein and Day Handbook of Magic from his father in 1973, his fascination with magic began. After watching Doug Henning's World of Magic (1975), Ben's childhood passion developed into a lifelong passion. Ben is a regular visitor to the Arcade Magic and Novelty Company in Toronto, as well as Morrissey Magic Ltd. While high school, Ben worked part-time at Morrissey Magic, learning the art of Canadian magician and store founder Herb Morrissey.
Ben bought the book The Magic and Methods of Ross Bertram in 1978, Msgr. Morrissey, Msgr. Ross Bertram, the book's author, met with Vincent Foy and P. Howard Lyons. Ben studied magic with Bertram for six years (1980–86) and became Bertram's sole protégé.
Ben obtained a BA from University College of Toronto (1983), an LLB from the University of Western Ontario (1987), and an LLM from the London School of Economics (1988). He graduated from Macdonald & Hayden in 1989 and joined Goodman, Phillips, and Vineberg (now Goodmans) as a tax advocate.
However, Ben discarded the traditional lawyer's life in 1990 to pursue the art of magic, following a series of conventions, lectures, and magic shows.
In a video that highlights a recap of his work and contributions to magic, Ben was a featured alumni of the University of Toronto in 2019.
