Personal life
Basche is married to actress Alysia Reiner; they met in a summer stock production of William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. Livia Charles Basche, the couple's daughter, was born on December 5, 2008.

Life and career
Basche was born in Hartford, Connecticut. In the sixth grade at West Hartford's Norfeldt Elementary School, his first acting appearance was in a school production of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Basche, who describes his demeanor as a "angry, smart-ass child," started to play and landed the lead role after a school counselor suggested that he channel some of his frustration and emotion. Basche appeared in many plays produced by the Greater Hartford Jewish Community Center while a student at King Philip Middle School, and he appeared in ten school productions during his four years at William H. Hall High School in West Hartford. Basche began as a communications major before moving to performing arts.
In Oh Grow Up, a short-lived sitcom created by Alan Ball, his first big exposure was his appearance in a short-lived sitcom. Steven Keats appeared in the NBC sitcom Three Sisters for two seasons. Tim, the stepfather of Dakota Fanning and Justin Chatwin's characters, appeared in the 2005 film War of the Worlds. He appeared in United 93 as Todd Beamer. David performed in 2007's I'll Believe You, a family-friendly sci-fi comedy. In 2008, he played Mike Harness in Lipstick Jungle on NBC for two seasons, as well as being Kenny Kagan in The Starter Wife on USA Network. He appeared on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, White Collar, Criminal Intent and The Mentalist in 2010.
