After a six-week trial in the NSW Supreme Court, the jury found one of her murderers, Benjamin Troy Parkes, guilty of murder on Wednesday. Robert Sloan, a 46-year-old man, was charged with beating Ms Carroll and attempting to dispose of her body by dousing it in petrol and setting it ablaze, according to the 46-year-old's unsuccessfully.

At Paisley Sheriff Court, a fatal accident investigation into the deaths is being held. Fire and smoke escaped from the small room just off the reception area, according to a security camera video taken during the night of December 18th. Darren Robinson, the hotel's night manager, was on the courtroom and was shown a video of O'Malley shortly after the fire broke out, filling a black plastic bag with ashes and throwing it into the cupboard, which also stored kindling for the nearby fire.
