Dainius Adomaitis (born January 19, 1974) is a Lithuanian professional basketball coach and former player.
He is the current head coach for Rytas Vilnius of the Lithuanian Basketball League and former coach of the senior Lithuanian national basketball team.
Professional career
He began his career in Statyba Vilnius. He then migrated to Kaunas, becoming the EuroLeague champion. After a fruitful season in the algiris Kaunas, he migrated to Zucchetti Montecatini, but he didn't fit there. He then moved to Anwil Wroczwaw, then to l'sk Wrocaw, and finally to BCM Gravelines in 2003. He took over the team's captaincy just a year later. Nevertheless, he returned to Barons/LMT Riga at the end of the 2006–2007 season, after the change of coaches. He announced the end of his career in August 2009.
National team career
Adomaitis was a member of the Lithuanian national team, which received a bronze medal at the 2000 Olympic Games.
Coaching career
He was appointed assistant coach of the Polish team Czarni Supsk on August 22nd. He was promoted to be the team's head coach on March 23, 2010.
He signed a deal with Anwil Wroc as the head coach in June 2012, but he was fired the same year due to poor team results. He joined the Lithuanian team Lietuvos rytas Vilnius as the assistant coach of head coach Darius Maskolinas on November 19, 2012. He joined Juventus Utena and was named the best coach of the 2014-15 LKL season after appearing as the head coach of Lietuvos rytas for a short time.
After coaching Neptnas to the LKL finals in 2015, he joined Neptnas and was named best coach of the LKL season once more.
Rytas Vilnius of the Lithuanian Basketball League, employed Adomaitis as head coach on June 21. After both sides could not settle on a contract extension, Adomaitis and Rytas Vilnius decided on June 2, 2020, both sides agreed to mutually separate.
Adomaitis, the Israeli Basketball Premier League's head coach, joined Hapoel Jerusalem on January 14th. The two sides parted ways on April 9, 2021.
Adomatis joined Neptnas Klaip for the remainder of the season on December 18, 2021.
Adomaitis had signed with Alvark Tokyo, a Japanese-based B.League outfit, on July 1, 2022.
Following Jonas Kazlauskas' departure shortly after the 2016 Rio Olympics, Adomaitis was named head coach for the Lithuanian national basketball team on October 25th. He left the Lithuanian national team after the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup, where the Lithuanian team was kicked out of the quarterfinals.
