He played college football at Ohio State.

Linsley was drafted by the Packers in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

High school career

Linsley, a native of Ohio, attended Boardman High School, where he earned first-team All-Federal League, All-Northeast Ohio, and second-team All-Ohio accolades. As a senior, he served as a team captain. He was named in SuperPrep's Midwest Top 30.

He lettered all four years in track & field, where he was the regional and league champion and a state medalist in the shot put (top throw of 19.24 meters as a senior). As a senior, he toss the discus at a maximum throw of 58.27 meters. He considered moving to track and field and quit football completely at Ohio State.

Linsley was rated as the No. 1 in a four-star recruit by Rivals.com. He is a 6 offensive guard prospect in his class.

College career

Linsley saw little action in six games in 2010, mostly as a reserve right guard or tackle, despite redshirting his first year at Ohio State. He played in ten games as a sophomore, but as a reserve. He didn't get much action on the PAT and field goal teams as a blocker, though he didn't get much attention.

After two seasons as guard, Mike Brewster was expected to replace All-American center Mike Brewster at center. He started all 12 games at center and helped the Buckeyes post a Big Ten-best 37.2 points per game, while ranking second in rushing with an average of 242.2 yards per game on the ground.

Linsley was seen as an integral part of the Buckeyes' offense.

Professional career

In the 2014 NFL Draft, Linsley was selected in the fifth round (161st overall) by the Green Bay Packers. He signed a new deal with the Packers on May 15, 2014.

Linsley was supposed to be the Packers' back-up center in 2014, but Linsley was made the surprise starting center for the regular season after a injury to upcoming starter J. C. Tretter late in the season. Linsley remained as starting center after Tretter recovered from his injury and ended up playing every game during the regular season as well as two playoff games.

Linsley was put on Reserve/PUP after a lingering hamstring injury. On November 5, 2016, he was activated off PUP.

Linsley announced on December 30, 2017, signing a three-year, $25.5 million contract extension with the Packers after playing all 16 games at center in 2017.

Linsley was put on injured reserve on December 5, 2020, after suffering a knee injury in Week 12. Linsley was activated off of injured reserve on December 26, 2020.

Linsley was the highest-paid center in the league on March 17, 2021, after signing a five-year, $62.5 million contract with the Los Angeles Chargers.
