Christina "Christy" Renée Henrich (July 18, 1972-1994), an American artistic gymnast, was born in the United States.

Her death from anorexia nervosa at the age of 22 led to major changes in the way women's gymnastics is represented on television and in the news media.

Christy Henrich Career

Early career

Henrich joined the Great American Gymnastics Express (GAGE) club in Blue Springs, Missouri, in 1986, after placing fifth all-around in the junior division at the United States National Championships. She climbed through the top of the elite rankings over the next four years, placing ninth at the 1988 Olympic Trials and winning the silver medal in the 1989 U.S. National Championships.

She represented the United States in Stuttgart, placing fourth with the American team and just missing a medal in the uneven bars final. One of Henrich's first balance beam leaps was named after she was first listed in the Code of Points, but the skill is still present in the Code as of 2007, and it holds a 'C' difficulty rating.
