Robin Askwith followed his hugely popular Confessions film series with a global theatre tour. The Confessions series began as a series of naughty books purportedly charting the amorous adventures of Timothy Lea. They were made into four films starting with the hugely successful Confessions Of A Window Cleaner (1974). Askwith's character was a lovable, tousled-haired cockney who was seemingly irresistible to London 's housewives. The novels were supposedly the true confessions of Lea but were, in fact, written by the screenwriter and novelist Christopher Wood.

Only two weeks before the deadly shooting, a New York father who killed his 14-year-old honor roll student daughter in a horrific murder-suicide purchased a 20-guage pistol. Despite two separate domestic attacks, Wood was able to buy the shotgun he used to murder his daughter before turning the pistol on himself.

Authorities have discovered a father and daughter dead in their upstate New York home in what police have described as a murder-suicide only days after the girl's mother reported being harassed by her estranged husband. Ava Wood, 14, was discovered in a separate room from her father Christopher Wood, 51, in Baldwinsville, both with life-threatening gunshot wounds to the head, with the former appearing to be self-inflicted. The woman, who remains unknown, says there was no answer at the door and that her 14-year-old daughter had not left for school after conducting a welfare check at the house.
