A private island with stunning views of the Miami skyline has hit the market for $31.5 million - but its potential sale has sparked outrage among environmentalists. Miami resident Finlay Matheson bought the 37.5 acre island Bird Key in 1985 for just $36,000, and after 30 years has decided now is the perfect time to sell. 'I thought, well, the real estate market is hot. I've got a great agent. So, why not?' he told NBC Miami . He added: 'It's unique because it's the only undeveloped island in North Biscayne Bay and it's the only natural island in Biscayne Bay. All the other islands have been manmade, filled in over the years.'
