That is what Lando Norris did in the US Grand Prix. Max Verstappen needs no second invitation. He is adept at threading his rampaging Red Bull through the eye of a needle with sledgehammer force, let alone blast down a hole he should never have been afforded. This was always going to be the latest severe test of Norris's mettle, with him starting on pole and Verstappen alongside him on the grid.

His title rival Lando Norris was passed on the final lap to finish third behind Ferrari's Carlos Sainz - a real setback as the Briton carried too much speed into the first corner. Clearly, Norris' McLaren is no longer the cream of the crop as it has been in recent months, and he only just held on to his podium place under attack from Charles Leclerc 's Ferrari.

JONATHAN MCEVOY IN BAKU: This was billed as the latest weekend in which Lando Norris - who drove this race in Baku with tenacity and distinction to finish fourth after a late drama lifted him up two spots, a place ahead of Verstappen - could take a giant stride in his title bid, and how he could have done but for flunking qualifying and starting 15th. Instead, it was a brilliant win for the 23-year-old Australian Piastri - the second of his career, the first having come in Hungary in July.

Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez's race was ruined in the final stages of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix as the pair collided. Sainz appeared to nip in front of Perez and looked to complete the overtake. However, the two then careered into the wall and prompted a virtual safety car, with Perez seen angrily gesturing at Sainz via his onboard camera.

The Australian youngster shocked Charles Leclerc with a bold move on Turn One in Baku and held onto his position amid an onslaught of attacks from the Ferrari man over a pulsating race on Sunday afternoon.

The Briton needs every point he can muster as he tries to overhaul defending champion Max Verstappen, whose lead stands at 62 with eight races remaining. It was a missed opportunity because the Dutchman was complaining about his Red Bull and will only start from sixth, while Charles Leclerc is on pole in Baku for the fourth time.

As for Leclerc he did brilliantly to marshal his tyres through 38 laps in searing heat - a one-stop masterstroke by Ferrari and their No 1 driver.

Queen Maxima of the Netherlands stepped out in a smoky blue ensemble as she arrived today in Vlissingen, a city famed for its beautiful sea. The royal, 53, looked effortlessly elegant as she donned an earthy blue laced look during her visit to Scheldekwartier, a district dedicated to maritime heritage in Vlissingen town located in the Walcheren region of the Netherlands. Joined by her husband, King Willem-Alexander , Maxima sported a sleeveless frock embellished with a gorgeous earthy coloured lace, worn just below her knee. The same material had been fashioned into a feminine looking scarf laid over her sun tanned shoulders, and a lace feathered beret perched on her immaculate hair.

She paired her summery ensemble khaki trench coat which had a floral print on the the back - as the weather was a relatively mild 18 degrees - and she also donned white open-toe sandals. Maxima opted to accessorise with chic dangly white flower earrings to compliment her outfit, a silver diamond bracelet, a red and white string bracelet with an Evil Eye on it and a gold ring with a forest green stone. The mother-of-three opted for natural makeup, wearing a touch of foundation and concealer and donning her signature smoky eyeshadow.

Red Bull's head of driver development and key advisor, Helmut Marko, has said he fears issues around the RB20 will not be ironed out ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix, this weekend. According to The Mirror, Marko claims problems with the car's balance and speed have still not been addressed fully by the constructor's technical and mechanical teams. He said Red Bull 'no longer have balance in the car', and that 'problems are likely to continue' ahead of Formula One's summer restart at Max Verstappen's home Grand Prix in Zandvoort. 

HENRY CLARK: Max Verstappen conquered a slippery Spa to post the fastest time in qualifying ahead of tomorrow's Belgian Grand Prix - but will start from way down in 11th due to his 10-place grid penalty. The reigning world champion has been penalised for taking his fifth engine of the season, one more than he is permitted. Verstappen did all he could, though, in the way of damage limitation and looked to be operating at a different level compared to the rest of the field.

Charles Leclerc escaped a grid penalty after hitting out at Lando Norris following a clash between the pair during a fiery practice at the Spanish Grand Prix. Carlos Sainz topped FP3 in front of a baying home crowd at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, narrowly finishing ahead of Norris and Leclerc.  Meanwhile Max Verstappen, who extended his lead at the top of the Drivers' Championship standings with victory last season, could only manage fourth.
