On January 6, Netflix revealed the news on a short teaser with a video of Jenna Ortega as the titular Wednesday, as well as scenes from the show and a video of fan gatherings. Lady Gaga's "Bloody Mary" was also used as the clip's soundtrack, a song that would have been popular on TikTok since being associated with the show on TikTok.
