Cedi Osman (born April 8, 1995) is a Turkish professional basketball player for the National Basketball Association's Cleveland Cavaliers.

He plays for the small forward position.

Early years

Osman was born in Ohrid, Macedonia, modern-day North Macedonia, to a Turkish father and a Bosniak mother (from Novi Pazar, Serbia). Caner, the older brother who is also a basketball player, has a brother who plays basketball. In 2001, he began playing basketball for KK Bosna's youth teams. He became a Turkish citizen as a result of Turkey's right-of-return legislation. Since then, he has also represented the Turkish national basketball team.

Personal life

In September 2021, Osman proposed to Ebru ahin, a Turkish actress. They were married in July 2022.

Professional career

Following his outstanding success at KK Bosna, Osman signed a youth team deal with Anadolu Efes in 2007. He competed for Anadolu Efes' junior, actor, and youth teams. He was loaned to the Perevniyal of the Turkish Basketball First League, which was at the time the farm team of Anadolu Efes was loaned for the 2011-12 season. Osman signed a senior role with Anadolu Efes in the summer of 2012.

The Minnesota Timberwolves selected Osman with the 31st overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft on June 25th. His draft rights, as well as those of Rakeem Christmas and a potential draft pick, were then sold to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Tyus Jones' draft rights.

Osman signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers on July 18, 2017. In a 123-107 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on February 9, Osman played 38 minutes. While notching 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals, he scored 16 points on 6-of-9 shootings. The Cavaliers made it to the 2018 NBA Finals but lost 4-0 to the Golden State Warriors.

Osman scored a career-high 29 points in a 100-94 loss to the Miami Heat on January 25, 2019. Osman was named a participant in the 2019 Rising Stars Challenge as a member of the World Team four days later.

Osman signed a two-year deal with the Cavaliers on October 26, 2019.

Osman achieved his 500th 3 pointer as a member of the Cavaliers on March 22, 2022. This made him the ninth Cavaliers player to join the 500+ 3 point club ever.

National team career

Osman was a member of Turkey's junior national teams.
