Have I been in a Sleeping Beauty-like stupor for the past six years since the 'final' Victoria's Secret fashion show, only to wake up and see the same event play out almost identically last week? There it all was: G-strings, thongs, bare bottoms with hints of pudenda, bondage corsets, ankle ties and towering heels paraded on a cavalcade of some of the world's most beautiful women. But I could have sworn that when the 2019 show was cancelled, we were awash with body positivity - i.e. don't knock yourself for being too fat - and claims it was time for women to own their bodies rather than in any way cater for the male gaze.

Gigi Hadid says she was proud to work with so many veteran models during the Victoria's Secret fashion show this week. The New York runway event also featured icons like Carla Bruni, 56, Tyra Banks, 50, Kate Moss, 50, Adriana Lima, 43, Irina Shayk, 38, Alessandra Ambrosio, 43, and Candice Swanepoel, 35. 'It's just really great,' the 29-year-old sister of Bella Hadid, who was also in the show, told Extra.

The feathers were fake, and the lingerie as skimpy as ever. But both were on grand display on Tuesday night in New York, as the Victoria's Secret fashion show returned with much pomp after a six-year hiatus. The casting of 52 models - among them were stellar names including Kate Moss, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Tyra Banks and Carla Bruni - was an exercise in race, age, gender and body diversity. Plus-size models Ashley Graham and Paloma Elsesser and transgender stars Valentina Sampaio and Alex Consani ensured that the event was far more inclusive than in previous years. So how old is too old to model in the fabled lingerie show that famously 'broke' the internet when it was first streamed live in 1999?

The One Direction heartthrob, 30, was captured jumping on his car as he his helped by security. Albert revealed his uncertainties of whether they fell in love at the 2011 competition, he told Paris Match : 'I don't know if we fell in love back then,' adding that it was several years before they would meet again. But while romance might not have been on the cards at first, Charlene still made an impression on Albert, with him recalling: 'I thought that she was an excellent swimmer and that she was friendly, cheerful, and approachable'. Christophe Ruggia, 59, is expected to stand trial in December following allegations he assaulted Adèle Haenel, 35, in the early 2000s when she was under 15. Casting her vote in France's knife-edge parliamentary elections last weekend with her husband, former president Nicolas Sarkozy, felt like a return to the glory days for Carla Bruni. As ever the cameras were drawn to the former model, chic in a navy blazer and tailored dark slacks, rather than the diminutive - and disgraced - Sarkozy, the first ex-president in post-war France to have been given a custodial sentence for corruption. Sunday's outing to a polling station close to the townhouse they share in the swanky 16th arrondissement, home to the city's wealthiest and most flamboyant citizens, was a chance to show that despite their travails they are as involved in the affairs of state as they were when the strutting Sarkozy occupied the Elysee Palace and Carla was at his side as First Lady. The French Riviera came alive on Saturday evening as the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival continued. The sprawling Palais des Festival played host to the Emilia Perez premiere as a number of models turned Cannes into a runway.  Carla Bruni was joined by fashionista Alexa Chung and Natasha Poly - and all were dressed to impress for the screening.

Former French first lady and supermodel Carla Bruni (left) was today being questioned by police as a criminal suspect in a wide-ranging corruption case. The 56-year-old is said to have tried to 'whitewash' her husband, former President Nicolas Sarkozy (right, on the left), 69, over allegations that he accepted millions in cash from the late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi (right). Bruni, who denies any wrongdoing, on Thursday attended the Paris offices of the Central Office for the Fight against Corruption and Financial and Tax Offenses. 'Her status is free suspect,' said a source close to the case. 'She has spoken to officers before, but not as a suspect in a case in which she's accused of trying to whitewash her husband.' Bruni is a close friend of Mimi Marchand - a French media fixer who has been placed under formal investigation for 'witness tampering' and 'criminal corruption'.

Another European Princess whose absence sparked a global discussion as the world looks to the British royal family after Kate's (bottom inset) picture mistake. Princess Charlene of Monaco was away for the majority of 2021 while receiving medical attention in South Africa (pictured left, middle, and right) before moving to a Swiss clinic that purportedly specializes in mental health and addiction research. Following her long absence, the Monaco palace has denied media reports of a disconnect between Charlene and the principality's king Prince Albert, who were reunited in 2011. Prince Albert, who is 19 years old, looks after their twins Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella (top inset).

During Paris Fashion Week's runway show on Tuesday, Carla Bruni displayed her unique sense of style. With an olive one-piece zip-up jacket on the waist and a thick brown belt, the former model and French first lady, 59, commanded attention. She paired her bold style with a pair of thick brown leather gloves that followed her forearms.

I honestly think this could be a year of reckoning for any man with a skeleton in his closet relating to sexual offences. Why? Women are finally allowed to believe that if they go public about the abuse they have suffered at the hands of men, they will be convicted.

The 69-year-old's lawyers had requested that the Paris Appeal Court revoke his one-year prison term with six months suspended, but the judge upheld the decision on Wednesday. It came after a five-week trial at the city's Correctional Court three years ago, when Sarkozy was found guilty of fiddling the books during his failed 2012 attempt to become governor of the state. During the reading of the new 244-page verdict, Sarkozy, the President of France for five years before 2012, was present in court. According to a person close to the politician, he was 'determined to protect himself' so as not to go to prison. Rather than ending up in a cell, he is now expected to serve his term in an electronic tag at the Paris home he shares with his third wife, Carla Bruni, 56.
